Black Cats Save Lives

A black cat with eyes so bright,
Crept through the shadows of the night,
With a purr so soft and a heart so pure,
It set out to save a life for sure.
Through the streets, it did roam,
Guided by an instinctive home,
Towards a house where danger did lurk,
And a life was about to go berserk.
The cat did leap and the cat did claw,
Fighting off danger with tooth and claw,
Its courage shone like a beacon of light,
As it saved the life in the darkest of night.
And when the danger had passed,
The cat slipped away, so sly and fast,
But in the heart of the one it had saved,
Its heroism would never be forgotten, engraved.

Thirteen Years

At thirteen years, the world was new?
But then it changed, I lost my father too
A life so full, now empty and still?
A void that time could never fill
The pain it brought, I couldn't bear?
My father gone, it wasn't fair?A part of me forever lost
A cost so high, no words could exhaust
My memories of him are all I hold? His love and wisdom, now untold?
A guiding light, now lost in time?
Leaves me with sadness, no reason or rhyme
But in my heart, he'll always stay?
Forever with me, day by day?
His love will guide me through the years
?And dry my eyes, and calm my fears
Though he's gone, his love remains?
A legacy that still sustains? And though my heart still aches with pain
?I know I'll see him once again.

I Used To

I used to think I was,
Worthless, helpless, and needy.
Now I know I am,
Worthy, helpful, and deserved.
I used to believe I deserved
Pain, heartache, and abandonment.
Now I know I need,
Love, peace, and people in my life.
I used to wonder if,
I was ever good enough,
Now I dream for better days.
I used to feel,
Anxiety, pain, and more heartache.
Now I know I can
Heal, be free, and let go.
