-distant Memory-

Glistening sun and cobblestone streets
Towering cathedrals and blistering feet
Walking past shops gelato in hand
Mom steps into a church as usual, unplanned
Altars rise a bove us, stained glass in every window
Candles and holy water with a crypt just below
Back into town with such bustling people
I turn around and say goodbye to the steeple
Even from here, I can smell the fried food
We stop at a lookout, and my eyes become glued
Beautiful tows and Greenery for miles
It's a special kind of view bringing us smiles
The light hits my eyes, I'm back in my room
Outside my window only darkness and gloom 
It's for the best, I've got school and things still
But someday I'll go back, I know that I will
