The Story of Every High-School Teen

She's a little girl with big dreams,
But she's doubting her potential all the time, it seems.
She asks herself if she has all that it takes,
Will she ever be able to muster up the courage, before the day breaks?
She's trying hard, the best she can,
But doesn't everybody at some point fail, even the most extraordinary man?

She's putting in, all her heart and soul,
To achieve that one big, challenging goal.
She, like every teen alike, doesn't know what's in store for her,
But she's afraid, that if she ever falls, would her future be just blurr?
Oh, the questions are many, the answers few,
She just hopes, there's some guiding light that comes to her rescue!

The Birthday Affirmation

So, the birthday countdown finally begins,
It's my birthday very soon, one of my most favourite things!
Oh, now please don't ask me how old I'll be,
Cuz choosing to live young forever is a bliss, you see.

Birthday cakes are always delectable, who wouldn't agree?
If you feel a bit under the weather, just have some and you'll be fine, I guarantee!
The lovely birthday wishes from friends are always plenty,
No matter what new age you enter, seventeen or twenty!

Yet another adventurous year is now on its way,
I hope I can be an even better version of myself, let's pray!
Well, yeah, I know I'm already in for a ride,
And let's be honest, I really feel skeptical on the inside.
Nevertheless, with the Almighty's blessings and showering love,
I hope I'll be prepared for anything that's tough.

Life's Lessons By An Old Granny

"Oh, hi",said an old granny,
Her ashen face lit up with a wide smile,
I greeted her back but with melancholy,
As I was feeling low for quite a while.

She instantly asked, "What's wrong, my child?"
I was already downcast and told her the reason my day felt mild.
I hesitantly enquired- "Why is life so damn tough, granny?"
To which, she answered- "Life is beautiful but one might, at times, feel uncanny.
Life is undoubtedly an adventurous ride,
Some days you feel low, the other days, your face shines with pride.
There's no secret to excelling at it, as you may ask.
Just learn the lessons along the journey, with each coming task.
The most significant lesson is to work hard and keep yourself on track,
Because only your diligence and consistency will help you learn the hack.
Teenage is tough but remind yourself what makes you unique,
Whatever it may be, could be your humor or even your physique.
You shall come across a number of people and they will all teach you something,
Just go with the flow, remember it's your life and you surely are its King.
One important aspect is to learn to deal with failures,
Cuz, you, my dear should know they're not there to steal your laughters,
Rather, treat them as an inevitable part of the journey, to teach you where you lacked,
It could be possible that there were loopholes in your prep and hence you slacked.
But whenever you fall or hit the rock bottom,
Make sure to rise from the ashes although you might already feel numb.
Winning or losing at your endeavours are a part and parcel of it,
But when you start afresh and try again to reach greater heights is when you can say you fit.
Even Darwin proposed the idea of survival of the fittest,
Facing the ordeals of life and overcoming them will make an ordinary man the greatest.
Learn to find little pleasures in whatever you do,
Cuz one fine day, you'll realise how quick the days just flew.
Being content and healthy is the greatest asset,
Without good health, one faces a treacherous threat."
"Thank you dear granny, I feel better already!", I said.
Smiling at me, an astounding aura of positivity, she spread.
I waved at her to wish her a goodbye,
Hoping I could meet her again and her lessons I could comply.

A Conversation With My Inner Self

It was a dark and stormy night,
And I was fighting a battle with my thoughts, thinking will everything really be alright?
Why is it so that we teens often feel like giving up,
Why does it feel our self-doubts often overpower our desire of capturing the Victor's cup?

Well, looking back at myself, I can recall,
I was this little cheerful kid running all around the hall.
Did I even know what stress and pressure mean?
Or was it just that I was naive and the harsh reality, I hadn't seen?
Spending time with my loving family and playing with friends
was something I loved to do,
Having a lively walk in the park with Dad and looking at the clear sky so blue!
Going on trips used to be the most thrilling experience of all,
Enjoying was important, didn't matter even if it meant to fall.

But what's wrong currently, I asked my present self.
Are you overwhelmed looking at those thick books you need to revise, on the book shelf?
Oh, dear girl, high school and preparation for competitive exams is a phase that will pass soon,
Just look outside the window and embrace the beauty of the white glowing moon.
Don't you realise that the entire night sky is dark,
But it's the moon that doesn't ever get afraid and shows up every single day, its shining spark.
The entire world is competitive and you are a part,
Instead of worrying, why not give your best during this phase and study with all your heart?
There has never been an instance when hardwork betrays,
Remember that delayed gratification always repays!

This short conversation with my inner self really helped,
The anxiety and the fear of not performing as per my own expectations had to be dealt.
"Let's start with my favourite subjects", I told myself,
Picked up those books I had kept ready on the shelf.
Realized that highs and lows don't last forever,
The tough battles one fights in life only makes him better.
Work hard and study smart,
Do all that it takes to become the best at your art.

Cheerfulness It Brings, Yes It's November

Is it finally the time for that special month?
The eleventh month of the year,
That marks the beginning of the winter season,
And almost the termination of the current year!
When students gotta pull up their socks,
For, their annual examinations are just around the corner,
When kids enjoy themselves to their heart's content,
On Children's day and remember the birth anniversary of India's first prime minister, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru.
Going back to history, that important month when the Constitution of India was finally adopted.
The favourite month of all, when mothers prepare scrumptious delicacies for their family,
The month when the air screams with joy and excitement,
For, the festive season is finally here after a long wait!
The month where farmers are all set to grow their winter crops,
And expect a good return this year.
Yes, it is November, it finally is November!
The month that inspires me with the important lesson,
That every ending isn't the worst, that there should always be,
Excitement for new beginnings and new hopes.
November is November, it has no match.
But you know what, there is a real catch!
Since winters are here and the weather feels cozy,
There are high chances for us students to become lazy!
So, let us not forget to exercise as well,
And of course, let's enjoy this month to the fullest!
And become a better version of ourselves.

Which Season Is This

The pretty monsoon, the lovely monsoon,
Is the one season that could instantly make me happy.
Oh, I can smell that nostalgic fragrance of the wet, wet sand.
And see the silver mist that has made its way on the young, young leaves.
Glancing around, the sight of the little, little kids,
Crafting their own paper boats with sheer exuberance.
And that one group of high spirited girls,
Who just enjoy the pouring rain to their heart's content.
A little away, those wet, slippery roads,
People being extremely careful as they take a step.
And then, there's my little cousin who loves enjoying,
Playing loud music in his cozy room.
Those scrumptious fritters that mom is preparing,
Are just worth the long, long wait!
And that sound of the heavy rain on the roof,
Is probably the only loud sound that doesn't exasperate!
But what am I doing, you may wonder?
I'm sorry, dear reader, I just realized I was lost in my sweet, sweet fantasy,
Cuz, it's unfortunately winter currently!

Go On, Run Run

Never stop chasing your childhood dreams.
For, if one's dreams die,
Life becomes utterly pointless!
Like that dejected bird with broken wings,
That can never fly!
The day one gives up on his dreams,
Is the very day he loses his own complete self,
And that is more frightening than it seems.

Is There Really a Reason

Do all things that happen to us,
Have an undiscovered reason behind them?
Or some things are just meant to be,
The way they are?

When a little child slips and falls while playing,
Does the reason behind him falling, ever bother him?
Or perhaps, when a man is fighting life's toughest battles,
Does he ever realise that these battles are meant for him,
To learn from his past mistakes and grow through the journey?

Are we really not thinking enough,
Or is it that we're just over analyzing?
Well, I'm not very certain,
For, I'm still a young learner,
Who is yet to unleash the concealed discoveries,
That Life has to offer!
All I know is every single step one takes ahead, counts!
