My Word of Advice For That Girl Child

That girl has a promising future
Clearly shown in her sense of adventure
Sadly the sourbellies of our tradition
Pose many threats on her ambition

A world that prefers the misfortune of a male gender
Over the good fortune of a female gender
Can't appreciate the confluence of skills
Imbedded in that girl child that he kills

There are many tales of horrific imbalances
Orchestrated by men that form alliances
To cower that girl child with their sense of soured culture
In order to forfeit her sense of adventure

My word of advice for that girl child
She shouldn't accept the plots such men styled
If she ever desires to fulfill her dream
She should hold herself in high esteem

Despite Their Pocketful of Promises

If you come to my occasion
Maybe birthday or dedication
You'll be to me like a red rag to a bull
Asking for rice knowing the price of a bagful

Our common and daily food
Is becoming an august food
Either our leaders aren't aware
Or they just don't care

This continuous bulging in the price of rice
Coming from a government thought will be super-nice
Is nothing but a rape of hope
Pushing the masses to where they'll never be able to cope

With the lamentation of those who market rice in bagful(s)
And the masses that don't have their pocketful
We don't need a teacher to tell us that the situation has become rotten
Yet they want to make the rotten situation golden

Those who failed to achieve their pocketful of promises
See this rottenness as golden to make many more promises
Our situation is either feast or famine
Which we all need to examine

The rapes and the ravages are too many
that make us pickle
While the precautions are too little that make us tingle
In their timetable they've made it turn by turn
It's left for us to learn or continue to yearn

A Paragon For Nigerian Youths

Like a cheetah that's a natural born sprinter
Tobi Amusan is the world fastest female sprinter
And like an American Quarter Horse
Tobi Amusan has become a discourse

Having proven to be the world best
In Oregon's and Birmingham's contest
The hurdler's emergence is certainly unsudden
A lesson for he who with his ambition plays chicken

Like every tree with a seed to bear a kind of fruit
Every youth is challenged by this to be resolute
If only we have a sense of acuteness
Every man is created with a seed of greatness

Whoever isn't resolute with his seed is a failure
And a failure is always a lone creature
Except your seed becomes a gigantic tree
No one will come to you like they gather for apple bee

Tobi Amusan has become a market of horny bee
And a gigantic tree for everyone to come and see
The kind of paragon every youth need to bear a good fruit
Maybe by this they too can become resolute

That in spite of our system that kills impetus
Or the hurdle or detritus that life may bring to us
Like Tobi Amusan, we too can glide over such
To be congratulated like she whose records bear a good touch

A Danger Forseen Is Half Avoided

Prior to the twenty fifteen election
I was in a total objection
As I got engaged in a war of words
With an elder who saw only the outwards

Though agreed that this party will win
I said their manifestos are just too green
And with the empathy that their faces flare
I said they'll grin on the masses with cruel sneer

Even though I'm not by spirituality a prophet
I'm a poet whose message to you is an amulet
The old man has realized that I'm not a kind of green
This time I'm saying APC-PDP are obscene

Aren't you thirsty for a new brewed wine
Tired of those who loot to wine and dine?
We know these men they aren't strange to us
They come in public square to make a fuss

Meanwhile they're planning to fiddle our mind
Their kind of politics has no respect for mankind
Justice is a virtue the Innocents rejoice in
But they have thrown such philosophy in the bin

A sane youth should know they're keen on their own interest
With no direction to move our country abreast
Either in economy with countries of the world
Or technology that'll create our desired world

The empowerer of generator wants to be the president
Verily power can't be better than the present
BAT that can't explain how became richer than many states
Wants to be president to slow down our metabolic rates

Obedience they say is better than sacrifice
With Obi our food basket won't come with overprice
A danger Foreseen is half avoided
Where you're bitten once or twice should be avoided

There Are Abilities In Disabilities

There are abilities in disabilities
So shun idioms that mock any form of disabilities
I know a fellow that has his physical frame unbalanced
And his head obliguely and disingenuously referenced

With slash reference Oriogbade may look dowd
But his wisdom these disabilities couldn't shroud
I hail his sense of humour for being so superb
And the philosophies canned in his proverb

The lessons in life are lives themselves
Oriogbade taught us to believe in ourselves
There shouldn't be such idiom again as turn a blind spot
For Oriogbade, his proverbs prove that he's a hotshot

Should there be someone that can help him to the top
I mean someone that can give him a leg up
Like those who brought him on air to grease his wheels
In order to fortify his resolutions against future ordeals

Oriogbade will be a recreation in the movie works
With his disposition he won't be a spanner thrown in the works
As he begins to breathe with profit and from his wrenches unclench
May he never be clenched again to go back to the trench

On Eagle Through Sahara

The journey of a thousand miles
Begins with a step taken with smiles
If there had not been a will
The records would have remained as nil

Never say never
Impossibilities won't last forever
Your daring adventure
Is an obscured voyage to some brainpower

We know that eagles can fly
But your eagle is built with a sly
For plying through that wasteland
What you did for the heart in the hand

Can never be done without courage
Or didn't you in the desert use the wheel to rage
Or ired by the intense torrent of the haboobs
Through the nights in the desert where you have no cubes

How did you escape the windy sand rain
I envy the courage that took over your brain
Such that you didn't know what to fear
And for impending dangers you didn't think to veer

Kunle Adeyanju has become a brand of idea
In his honour I rejoice with his fans on social media
They prove that love and care give more courage
A lesson for our leaders to learn to encourage

Sweet Little Things

Sweet Things With Life

The birds want to play
And be happy all the day
When you see them on a tree
Expressing joy of being free

Don't look for a wood
Little children in the hood
Don't look for some stones
To cast and break their bones

Dedicated To Jay Jay Okocha

Life isn't always about winning
This what I say to those who're thinking
That Jay Jay in spite of Fame is over hyped
Cos they're crude to know that such hotshots are archetyped

Just like Tyson made many fell in love with boxing
And Jackson made many fell in love with dancing
Okocha was the reason many Nigerians watched football
And the reason in competitions FIFA didn't want Nigeria to fall

The world may forget Platini, Madini and Totti
But the world won't forget Ronaldo, Christiano and Messi
The world will forget many in spite of their wins
But won't forget Pele, Maradona, Okocha and Ronaldinho for many reasons

There are some talents that aren't meant for trophies
But their impacts offer great psychotherapies
Like the legendary Bob Marley who didn't win a Grammy
Or Achebe who never won a Noble Prize in spite of his ability

Austin would've been treated differently if he were a white
Watching Jay Jay gave the world a great delight
Africans had Okocha underrated
He deserves more respect than the responses in what people debated

Since football is about inclusion, respect and entertainment
Jay Jay Okocha gave us that and that's an achievement
Since football is the best entertainment around the world
Jay Jay gave us memories that put him on top of the world.

The German Shepherds

I don't have a dog
Doesn't mean I don't like a dog
A friend has two
And from the way he walks them through

The Alsatians strut along the street
Black and tan, they look so sweet
The German breeds are more than pets
They saunter along like a branch of cadets

Beautiful souls
Sure of their patrols
Never nervous
And prompt to calls for service

The German shepherds
Are very good shepherds
With impulses leading to quests
They checkmate uninvited guests

Dances On Yaya's Grave

Dr. Yaya has the whole town in his pocket
Apart from being a strong member of the ruling cabinet
He's a super merchant in oil and fine gold
Sadly he's never being the people's stronghold

In his sixty years of being in politics
He's being a negative influence and a merchant of tricks
He's the force the government uses to direct a blow
Because he's always being the people's foe

This principality has his mansion built on a hilltop
Where the youths in the hill town can't have a problem and stop
The day he became ailing because he fell in his bathroom
Marked the beginning of his doom

Because his condition became his enemies tool
They took his stool and cornered him like a village fool
Who in want of wisdom threw his shoes in a well
His barefootedness will surely make people marvel

Charity they say begins at home
When you go to farm remember that you'll return home
The merchant of crude behaviours
Died without any honors

Even the members of his family
Didn't bury him delightfully
And after burying their unguided relative
No one could resist the people as they dance on his grave.
