Kathryn Search Poem
JUST LISTEN MY FRIEND
When you are in darkness,
With gloom and dismay,
You feel what's worthwhile
Is slipping away.
You wonder if life
Is worth living at all.
Your mind is in turmoil,
And you're apt to fall.
If you listen closely
Someone is calling
He whispers gently
“I can keep you from falling.”
“Don't go any further,
But take a deep breath,
Call on to to Me,
And I'll do the rest.”
“Your troubles are over,
If you'll come unto me,
For I understand them,
And will set you free.”
I know His sweet voice,
His words are all true
And if you will but listen
He has much to give you.
Your life will be better
I promise my friend
For this loving Person
Has blessings to send
If you will yet trust Him
He always will stay
All of your darkness
Will then go away

A GLORIOUS WORK
A glorious work shall be done
Thru my blessed Lord.
A wondrous work within my soul,
A work beyond reward.
Not I shall do this work, I know.
‘Tis in His power alone.
Yet, when I give myself to Him
Through me His love is shown.
Oh, do this glorious work in me.
I pray Your will I’ll do.
Let only You be seen in me,
Thus, I abide in You.
Then I shall show Your wondrous love
To all within my sphere,
And when You come to take me home
The words “well done” I’ll hear.
I won’t deserve Your thanks, dear Lord,
But this one thing I know,
The abundant grace You give to me
Is more than I can show.

JOHN THE BAPTIST
J ohn was a man who was the cousin of Jesus
O ut of the ordinary person was he and more then a prophet
H is work was cut out before his birth and his parents knew it
N ever would he forsake his calling for he understood it well
T he forerunner of our blessed Savior had a work to do
H e called all sinners to repentance while living in desert land
E ntering into his work through the strength of the Holy Spirit
B aptizing all including his Master for this he was called to do
A pplying the words of God to the living every day of his life
p reparing the way for the Savior to enter an example for human life
T aking the backseat poor John was willing to do or die for his Lord
I nsisting that men go follow the Master and enter a life that is pure
S urrendering his will to do all he could to smooth the Savior's path
T hen at last dying at the hands of evil men with his heart still serving his Lord

DON'T BLAME GOD
Why is there sin and suffering
In this world today,
If the creator is a loving God?
You hear your neighbor say.
The sun still shines and water falls,
But from a cloudy sky.
And storms will come
Which frightens you and I.
Why do men war, kill, and steal
At morning, noon, or night?
Why does sickness bring us death,
Take loved ones from our sight?
Then we're told it is God's fault,
He hates the beings He's made.
And, so men feel wrath and fear,
Their misery is great.
But this cannot be the case,
For evil powers that be
Are not God's will at all,
But from an enemy.
Long before our earth was made,
In very distant past,
An angel thought he could be God,
And started trouble fast.
He told the angels many lies,
Convinced a third of them
They didn't need God's laws at all,
Thus began suffering and sin.
So when God made, in His image, man,
He gave them a simple test.
They needed to learn to trust in Him,
And in His arms to rest.
They failed this simple test for them,
And ate from the forbidden tree.
They started thinking confusing thoughts,
No longer were truly free.
That angel spoiled their lives that day
And had them thinking wrong.
Soon they realized their woeful sin
And learned God's glorious plan.
God's Son offered to die for man,
And give us a second choice,
Through His power be freed from sin,
By heeding the Spirit's voice.
So don't blame God, but a fallen angel,
Who soon will be destroyed and gone.
And, all those serving this evil being
Will disappear in the great beyond.

LIVING SACRIFICE
If we would be a sacrifice
To serve our heavenly King
We must be a living one
And give our all to Him
We cannot leave a single part
To serve an idol here
For the God who made us
Is the One who we must fear
Yes, it's true He loves us
And died to bring us back
To a true beginning
Where we never more will lack
Yet the only way we'll make it
To our heavenly home
Is through our loving service
Where self is never prone
Go study how our Savior
Lived His life on earth
And you may soon discover
A brand new second birth
Where self is dead forever
And all the evil sin
Then fruit of God's dear Spirit
Will ever dwell within

REAL BEAUTY
Surface beauty in a human being
May be seen as a great asset
But is this always the case
Beauty is not lasting
Character of love
That always glows
Makes us worth
Precious
Gems

GIVE GOD THE CREDIT
Give God the credit for all things good,
Give God the credit, you know you should.
Even though you may create a poem
Or plant a garden or make a home,
It's God who gave the skill to you
In every single thing you do.
You may play a harp with flare,
Or plant and mold with special care.
Perhaps your hands have nursing skills
Or your repair a need fulfills.
No matter what God gives you to do,
Give all the praise to Him--not you.
So, if you want to thank your friends,
Remind them of the love God sends.
Encourage to give thanks to Him,
For He has given skill to them.
God gave us brains, He gave us brawn,
Let's praise His name and not our own.

WATER OF LIFE
It is the maker of heaven and earth
Who furnishes water of solid worth
Without this water we have nothing left
For He's the one who gives us breath
When we place ourselves within His arms
And part ourselves from earthly charms
We'll have the best that heaven can offer
Access to all His eternal coffer
There is no limit to His gifts
When our heart and soul He lifts
For His wisdom and His grace
He offers to the human race
So few accept and see this true
But still He has a love for you
So as you give your heart to Him
He fills your cup right to the brim.

IT'S WORTH IT ALL
He carves and sands where I am rough
And smooths those corners down
And “ouch” it often hurts, I say
As His tools go all around
And yet I know that when He's through
No more a 'plaint I'll make
E'n though it may hurt at times
I know it's for my sake
Sometimes if I had tried to live
In a much more careful way
This process would be easier
On the life I live today
Sometimes we learn so very slow
God's righteous ways are best
His love will not give up on us
If we in His arms will rest
So let the process continue on
Until that glorious day
He's made a perfect gem of me
And in His arms I'll stay

THE HARMONY OF HEAVEN
The harmony of heaven
Is what we long for here
But it will only happen
When in hearts it does appear
For when we fight against it
And seek to have our way
The peace and joy of Heaven
Remain too far away
When we have let this harmony
In our own hearts to stay
Then the love enjoyed in heaven
Will never go away
