As the Crevice Crept

The one who proclaimed his love for her
For some time had been drifting away.
But she often longed for what they were,
Sometimes unable to keep the tears at bay.

There were days she'd felt the urge to run,
To let her feet carry her as far as they could,
To be with all of it just completely done
But she knew within that she never would.

And nights she'd laid awake in the dark,
Watching over him as beside her he slept.
On her heart his distance had left a mark,
The months passed as the crevice crept.

There lay no true blame to the wall
Which they'd each added stones to build
When with cancer the end began to call
And her body was slowly being killed.

Of being a burden she often fretted
And often fought to hide her sorrows.
To not say something later regretted
For her unknown number of tomorrows.

She'd craved a lover with the breath
That would spark the fire in her soul.
Now her mind wandered into the depth
Of the loneliness that was taking its toll.

Mornings At the Lake

These days my mind is often troubled
But it's hard to share how I'm feeling
With those that I should be the closest
Since with the cancer I started dealing.

I need a place where I can think,
To sit in silence and be at peace,
So I take my mornings at the lake
And for awhile let the chaos cease.

Cursed with a mind that never stops
But jumps about like a drunken rabbit,
I struggle to keep my thoughts in line
And so I've developed a writing habit.

A way for me to sort my troubles out
In a manner that forces me to go slow
And clarify the meaning of my thoughts
And not out of anger let my words flow.

War Zone

I admit, within every human relation
That there exists no true control.
There's always a chance of tribulation
But connection be always the goal.

We seek souls that bring us balance
And to help us feel complete.
When two souls together dance,
With it no feeling can compete.

But with love comes days of sorrow,
With secret tears being held at bay;
When one must question a tomorrow
And never quite knowing what to say.

Sometimes too much time feeling alone
Searching for the right words to share
How my mind is so often a war zone
And how moments of peace are rare.

The Minute Mile

In the beginning a different feeling
Until with cancer she was dealing
And like the waters of the stream
Of being free she'd often dream
To seek out her different pleasures
And unearth her hidden treasures
Without him getting it in his mind
That with him love she didn't find
She simply wanted to find her fire
To feel the passion and find desire
To seek out what made her smile
make her mind stop the minute mile.
