My Regrets

I hear the whispers.
Yet you don’t even care.
You walk in the room and pretend no one glares.
You’re always with your head to the sky.
While others have their head down.
You still hold yours high.
Your walk is impeccable.
Every step you take sends shivers down spines.
I should have known to draw some lines.
Because you unleashed
Was not a pretty sight
You were a beast
And I fell in fright.
I regret so much
Nothing could ever be more true
Yet most of all…I regret you.

Small Giraffe

Small giraffe,
Short caterpillar,
Slow cheetah,
Shy lion,
Plain peacock,
Serious puppy,
Energetic cat,
Whimsical snake,
Gauche deer,
Undaunting shark,
Rough bunny,
Dull butterfly,
We’re all misfits. We’re all different.

Once

Once I was innocent, my brain was cleansed of toxicity. My thoughts were watched, monitored, and edited so that my innocence would last.
Once I was quiet because I thought that if I didn’t speak, I would not make a mistake, but we all know no one is perfect so that didn’t last very long.
Once I was lost in a deep sea of regret. It’s waves too big for me. It’s current too strong for me. It’s depth too deep for me. It dragged me under the surface. I almost drowned. Almost.
Once I was confident. Every step I took made people glare in envy. Every word I spoke released shivers of confidence. Everything I touched shuddered at my radiations. Nothing stood in my way, nothing blocked my confidence, I would hold onto it, hug it forever. But then forever fell apart.

Sticks and Stones

Whispers soft as the wind,
Eyes see, ears alert
But no one hears
Lips move, eyes bulge
Fingers point, hearts beat
Words cut sharp like a knife.
Tears fall.
Anger sprouts.
Happiness fades.
Every single face puts up a protective shield.
Every face neutral.
Every eye dry.
Every mouth closed.
But on the inside,
Every heart’s warmth dies.
Every pulse quickens.
And every soul falls deeper into the dreaded sea of sorrow.
Sticks and stones may break my bones but words always hurt me.

Mirror, Mirror

An obscure, ambiguous figure looks back at me.
Penetrating me, seeing right through my mask of lies.
Knees buckle, arms shake, shaken as can be.
Glossy eyes filled with emotions no words could describe.
Grief, anxiety, anguish, and poignancy.
Naked eyes looking back at me silently pointing out my flaws.
Shoulders hunched, confidence lacking.
Arms crossed, hiding as much as I can from the figure.
But she stares on, laser eyes carving my insides out.
Consuming me, shrinking me, dooming me.
What the figure doesn't realize is that she's backward and is judging herself.

When

When darkness swallows the light,
when the sun sets and the sky deepens,
when the footprints in the sand are washed away by the waves,
when the final spec of sand drops from the hourglass,
when all the dominoes fall,
and when the devil calls your name.
You must remember that
Darkness never can subdue the light,
when the sun sets, it is replaced with the majestical stars and the beautiful moon,
when footprints are washed away in the sand, they clear the way so that more footprints can come,
when the hourglass’s final spec of sand drops, you can always flip the hourglass over,
when all the dominoes fall, they don’t vanish, you can re-build,
and when the devil calls your name, you have the power to ignore him.
For you carry more power than you know.
And you, yes you, you are UNSTOPPABLE.
