Dave Gregg Poem
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the grass grows fast in heaven
and the weeds are never ending
the folks in wings and shears
are the ones who won't stop sinning
virtue has its merits the
rewards can be quite great
but there's something said for sin
conducted with a rake

Dave Gregg Poem
She texts me
from a wedding
decribes the
bride and groom
walking down
a narrow aisle
beaming parents
children, guests
I am drinking
on my porch
celebrating
a divorce
final, in
two days
she writes again
"The ceremony
is over, I cried"
so I toast
these strangers
with my glass
"Do you like
weddings?"
she asks
"I do,"
I say
"I do"

Dave Gregg Poem
They call them
Chance meetings
What chance
Did I have
In the space
of time
The sun rose
Or sets or
the time
a spin cycle
Tosses clothes
Too and fro
no rhyme
Or reason
To it
like us
Dry
Folded
and worn
Too often

Dave Gregg Poem
m o n d a y
It’s a slow
part of Monday
the bone
other days discard
But for Monday
it’s what you have
Times takes
extra breaks
on Mondays
it dawdles
in the hall
takes the stairs
no sense
of urgency,
Monday
the day is arrogant
Mondays do not care
unlike Wednesday
which can be
sympathetic
Under the right
conditions
Monday
is a Nazi
and we’re
all Jews

Dave Gregg Poem
Embraced,
words
pour
so easily
gentle
recipes
prepared
for years
a kiss
mixed
with a touch
peeling,
slowly
Skin pulses
Gently blended
stir, my
body and yours
Somewhere a
timer rings
we're ready
smile
Time
To eat
