Foolish

no one on earth has ever loved
someone as deeply as I have loved you
I have given you every part of me
and loved you with every piece of me
no one on earth has ever been so foolish
as to love someone as deeply as I have loved you
I gave you every part of me
and loved you with every piece of me
until there was nothing left for myself
how cruel of me to deprive my body
of the love it deserves
just to give it all to you

Love and Loss

I have never known addiction
in the way that I know it
when I feel you caress me
when I feel your lips touch mine
when I hear your voice in my dreams
you walked into my life as if you
were a force of nature
enchanting me from the moment I saw you
captivating my soul, my heart, my mind
enthralled by your ability to make me feel
I have never known desolation
in the way that I know it
now that you’re gone

Addicted To You

“Addiction is a choice.”
alcohol
drugs
sex
food
these are all forms of addiction
yet my addiction is you
and if it were a choice
I would never choose the pain
that consumes me
when I think of how much
you have destroyed my body

It All Falls Down

we built a house
made up of all of the broken parts of ourselves
we tried to make something whole
out of something destined to collapse
we built it up so high
now we’re left to lie in the aftermath of these fallen parts
I think our house was doomed from the start

Gone

my mind grows weary
as the months become dreary
as you drift away from me
your hand falls from mine
why did you leave me be?
