After the Green

After all the green,
After my bright colored flowers
Have been given to undeserving lovers,
After holding your ground
And filling your belly and lungs
After all this is done,
And the season is cold and dry
I wither and die
Thirsty, hungry and choking
unattended to and voiceless
When it's my turn to need you
That's when you say
"Survival for the fittest";
But the circle will soon end
And I shall be green again.

This Is Our Chaalo

THIS IS OUR CHAALO
This is not the lubiri
There is no electricity,
This is not the city
There is no sigiri,
This is our Chaalo,
where we are all buried.

You won't hear the rain,
this is not mabaati;
You'll learn to cook grain,
there is no mugaati;
This is our Chaalo,
Where you got married.

You will blow into the smoke
But you will not choke;
You will run after a cock
Or have nothing to cook;
This is our Chaalo
Where you got married

Those Toothless jaajas
Are your silent judges,
And those drunkard koojas
Have been here,for ages;
This is our chaalo
So you shouldn't be worried.

These are our people
Most good,most evil;
They will sharpen your knife
And call you their wife,
But this our chaalo
Where we shall raise our children.

Enchanted

Deeply enchanted by the things you call flaws
My spirit levitates at mere sight of you
Doing things you call normal.
Like when you rise and set,beaming like the sun though out the day.
Or when you slumber gracefully, and your face moonlights the world
Yes you get hit by meteorites, yet here you
Are, still spinning
Lost in the universe you call your life
Yet I find myself being guided on how
To love you by the maps you call scars
I find my self deeply invested in every
Fragment and detail of what makes you
Is it love? addiction? Or a mix of the two
Or am I just addicted to loving you?
Is this possession or devotion, or
Am I devoted to being possessed by you.
If iam to find my self vanishing into oblivion
May you be the world unknown

Torn being

Dark clouds hang over space
With a heavy head , I sit desolate
A passer-by can tell by my stance
Or by a mere gaze at my face
That I have been beaten by the seasons
I bow my head and have a look at my hollow chest
To have a glimpse at the grey horizon
Behind my back
My weak knees support my elbows
As my frail fingers caress the fragile
Skin still holding my bones.
Why am I here, I ask my self,
For my whole being has been torn from me
