Do You Love Me

I’ve heard of this thing called love
It is such a horrible thought
it sneaks its way into people’s lives
and slowly watches them rot
I’ve heard of this thing called love
My mother explained it to me
It tricks you into falling for it
So, the other person leaves you empty
I’ve heard of this thing called love
Which my friend called a pretty sight
I guess she never was home
When her parents would bicker and fight
I’ve heard of this thing called love
And whatever it is I do not want it
I never could, I never will
No, I don’t want it a bit
I’ve heard of this thing called love
And it is such a horrible thought
So, the day he asked, “Do you love me?”
I said, “No, of course not”.

Skinny and Pretty

being skinny
does not mean you are pretty
the same way that making tea
does not mean you are going to church
they have nothing to do with one another.
