How Are You

You ask me how I’m doing
What’s going on in my mind
So many thoughts are brewing
A question so poorly timed 

Why ask if you don’t really care? 
Should I answer truthfully
Or leave the canvas bare? 
Your own image created beautifully 
By not truly knowing my wear

The wear and tear of my soul
That very question ripping me apart 
Not understanding the answer as a whole 
How can I tell your naive little heart? 

Can I tell you how I truly feel? 
The thoughts inside, how they shred?
If I told you it would become to real
Too much for your to bear, left only for me to dread.
