Charlotte Layton Poem
If only I were a boy
I wouldn't have to deal with the stares
the following
the degrading remarks
the rumors
If only I were a Boy
words i have prayed since i was a young girl
sometimes wondering
if life would be better
with a deeper voice
flatter chest
muscles
short hair
I've come to the conclusion that it would
because if I were a boy
then maybe she would love me back

Charlotte Layton Poem
parents have never seemed to understand the prospect of privacy
whether it be taking a door
or
going through my personal stuff
convincing them to stop never seemed to work though
mother would get upset and yell
while dad would leave
and now all that i can wish is that
i could just be left alone with my things
