Kiana Lyles Poem
You are a woman,
beautiful, black,
God’s masterpiece,
created with majestic power
and divinity—
The type of woman
who could never be tamed
or possessed.
One deserving of love,
respect, and civility.

Loving again
for the millionth time
has broken you into
a million pieces,
each
and every time.

Kiana Lyles Poem
Guard your heart
from those,
who love you
only for their benefit.
Those who
value your time
only for convenience.
Walk away
from those
who steal your
precious peace.
That of the mind
appraises above all.
Never settle for less
than your due,
that will diminish
your view
of your intrinsic value…
never ending
in appreciation.
They know your worth;
play no fool.
You are the light,
the truth.
Nurtured by
the sight
of God.
To love yourself,
is to propose to God
with vows
in the form of
displays of
self-affection.
In return
expect an infinite yes.
anyone who disagrees
is to stay
as far away
as possible
from your peace,
your time,
and
your love.

Kiana Lyles Poem
Although she was beautiful
her struggle never seemed to fade.
With roots as strong as hers she would always smile
even when her petals were plucked and frayed.
Remember how her beauty glowed
as she faced the sun with grace.
Half laughing, half crying
somehow she bloomed from her pain.
