Kelly Hawkins Poem
Every day we're shedding skin
Every hour I shrugged off my shoulders a version of myself that danced away with the thoughts that wouldn't dare to linger
These days like this when i can't seem to get ahold of myself and everything around me feels so empty
That clock tick ticking away so loud sometimes it's the only sound I can hear at all
Its only time passing
I don't put my faith in such things, that it offers any relief yet it does somehow
an abstract idea.. a unit of measurement
It shouldn't be a burden nor a comfort
But here we are, here I am
Watching clocks, wasting time
Praying as it passes by
That Everything's going to be ok

Kelly Hawkins Poem
I found myself standing before you with all my tattered threads
I gave it all to you for your skillful hands to mend
Now you've stitched yourself into me
You put your name on the inside of my collar

Kelly Hawkins Poem
So sway me
I find myself at home in your rhythm
Your caress a soundwave trembling under my skin
Lips are poetry reciting their lines exciting my mind
Captivate me
Let me lose control
As I slip away inside your rhyme
Your voice getting me high
And I lie satisfied
with nothing but my headphones
The rest of the world is miles away

Kelly Hawkins Poem
A cluttered mess of random pieces
Multicolored multitudes
The many versions of you
Fitting perfectly together in brilliant patterns with each turn
Becoming more beautiful as the light flows in

Kelly Hawkins Poem
That night we got drunk and we jumped on the furniture
We howled at the moon until the sun woke up the sky
Oh delight the song my heart sings when you are near
Please be my music forever

Kelly Hawkins Poem
Not that my heart ever stops breaking, but
the pain eases as the mind numbs
the cracks become glazed over by the routine of daily life
I stand knowing they will always come open at some point
I have to let the flood of what comes take me again

Kelly Hawkins Poem
People would say I looked like Lynda Carter
I'm a far cry from Wonder Woman
I could still be your super hero if you wanna follow me down into the dust
That thin layer of charred regret that coats the things, people and places that I've been
Where I'm hiding now
laughing as I write this

He rode in on butterfly wings
Whispers flutters at the nape of my neck
The voice of God booming in my ears

Kelly Hawkins Poem
Ring the bells for me
Fairytale clock keeper
I wanted to meet a beautiful end of my own design
But those sticklers at the bureau are obsessed with time
I couldn't hold on to my youth , adulthood failed me
All my golden arrows missed their mark and between the sheets I never connected the dots
Why does every touch feel cold and lonely
I didn't just want love I tried to create my own but evolution backfired her dna has missing parts and I sit crying under streetlights
Wallowing in wistful delusion
