The Sailor

Once upon a time
in a far away land
there lived a sailor
who fell in love with a man.

After years of traveling
wondering the sea
she found a place to call home
and he held the key.

Giving it all up
for the man her heart chose,
he rewarded her with a kiss
and a vibrant red rose.

Together they vanished
into the moments in time
that created their future
one memory at a time.

The Intersect

In the midst of the struggle
In the middle of the pain
In the midst of the chaos
In the middle of the change.

When life seemed confusing
and my path was indirect
is when I found you
on a journey that intersect.

Tulsa, OKC
and a few towns in-between,
our paths crossed
creating a love unforeseen.

Together forever
was our wedding vow
choosing a life together
without questioning how.

The Valley

God I don't hear you,
God I don't understand.
Why is all this happening?
This is nothing like I planned.

Life is a nightmare,
Please turn on the lights!
I'm tired of all the chaos,
I'm tired of all the fights.

God where are you?
Help me to understand.
I'm tired of the valley,
I'm ready to take a stand.

I'll climb life's mountain.
I'll fight in the war.
I may lose a battle,
but with you I will soar

Because deep down inside me
there's still a glimmer of hope.
I may feel like I'm drowning
but I know who holds my rope.

Ft Morgan

Waves crashing
Against the shore
Hear the power
Hear the roar

Wind blowing
Birds take flight
Stars twinkle
in the dead of night

Feel the sand
Beneath your toes
Enter a reality
No one else knows

Waves crashing
Against the shore
Can you feel the power?
Can you hear the roar?

The Miscarriage

My God, My God,
I feel broken and bruised.
I'm trying to understand
but my emotions are confused.

I have so many questions
that all start with why?
Why did I miscarry?
Why did the baby die?

My God, My God,
I know that you are good.
I believe you have a plan,
I just wish I understood.

How could I lose a baby?
When you're the creator of life?
You could of saved my pregnancy
instead of it ending with a knife.

My God, My God,
I feel broken and bruised.
I'm trying to understand
Can I at least have a clue?

The Fairytale

I always wanted love
A love that was true
Love that was timeless
And always pursued.

I wanted that fairytale
of love at first site
That happily ever after
Where everything went right.

I wanted that marriage
That risked it all
Where nothing else mattered
Because we both took the fall.

I thought my chance was over
My back was against the rope
But on January 20th
I found a glimmer of hope.

Something was different
From our very first date
In the back of my mind
I already knew it was fate.

The Phoenix

I've been in the fire
I've felt the pain
I heard the demons
Chanting my name.

I've felt the darkness
I heard the roar
I've experienced hardships
But watch me soar.

I rise like a phoenix
Strong and true
But I wouldn't be where I am
If it wasn't for you.

Stronger together
We stood up to the fight
Escaping the darkness
Chasing the light.

You are the energy
that ignites my flame.
You are the name
I always proudly proclaim.

Derek Garvin
My husband and friend
I promise to love you
Until the very end.

But even when it's over
And life passes us by
We'll rise like a phoenix
into the night sky.

The Surrender

My anxiety is high
my faith is running low,
Lord I surrender
I choose to let go.

I give you my all
my future and my past.
I'm tired of running
on a road that won't last.

You are the creator,
Lord you wear the crown.
I surrender my all,
I lay it all down.

The Fire

Shadrach, Meshsch, Abednego
He stood in the fire with them long ago
In the trial, in the change - I bet demons were chanting their names.

Jesus, Jesus -
They pled Jesus, Jesus
They stood in the fire, they saw the flames,
but they moved through it with no pain
Jesus, Jesus
Because of Jesus, Jesus
The Devil might try to knock me down
But I know who wears the crown

The Crook

I'm tired of pretending
I'm perfect inside
When really I'm a monster
With secrets to hide.

I band-aid my emotions.
I filter the way I look
I expect to feel authentic
When really I'm a crook.

I'm tired of pretending
I'm ready to break free
I don't want to be a monster
I just want to be me.
