Admitted Masquerade

Instead of being a corrupted victim,
self imposing voluntary blindness,
fear of solitude disguised behind shy behaviors
or another's condemned etiquette
which actually is only a transparent mask
foolishly worn atop obvious weakness
that you pretended to prevail over so long ago,
only to find yourself gasping for even a single breath
while you choke on everything you thought you knew already-
Now you begin to realize that finding so much unknown
in that space you previously thought was quite familiar-
terrifies you beyond even your darkest nightmares...
perhaps time has arrived to discontinue convincing
If only yourself of bravery adorned
which in reality you continue to lack,
and begin whatever necessary battle
is standing in your way
to locate strength
which fear has kept comatose,
while unearned pride was one of many masquerades
eluding you to exhibit repeatative failures instead,
Regardless if you ever admitted that,
even if only to yourself before.
