-reach Beyond Yourself-

Why not reach beyond yourself
at the start of this new day ?
Why are you sometimes content to live
that life which seems so mundane ?

Do you not know there are things in you,
many wonders waiting to be born ?
These you must harness the drive to pursue
or you'll find yourself living the norm.

There is that place within your heart
that looks to places beyond.
You once counted the cost it would take to start
but something kept you from going on.

It doesn't matter, what ever your age,
there is no excuse that will do.
Today is the start of a brand new page
and a new journey waiting for you.

The Road Walked Down Through the Years

This now, is who I truly am
as my pen takes liberty.
What now, I write is where I ‘ve been
so much there for all to see.

Good and bad, the in-betweens,
the road walked down through the years,
a panoramic display of scenes
from sunshine highs to darkened tears.

But I am not so unlike you,
you who would glance across this write.
The road you’ve walked that I never knew;
are similar roads not brought to light ?

Know me by the writes you read
and I’ll do the same for you.
Writing is our consuming need
as to ourselves we must stay true.

***Debra Guzzi,
I was mindful of the syllable count in each line
as we’ve discussed in the past, but I had to let my heart go on this one.
(No reflection on your great teaching ability!!)

And Yet They Judge

There are those who have fallen
in the eyes of this world,
one’s “sins” more damaging than the next.
“Skeletons from closets”
so ruthlessly hurled
and so many people are left vexed.

Now I do not condone
all that comes to light
whether by papers, radio or TV.
But what if it was YOU
whose “sins were in sight,
are there things you’d want others to see ?

The world does these things
and yet they judge,
from the arm of a pointed finger stare they.
But they conveniently hide
their “filthy sludge”,
and yet in His court they’ll have their day.

I wrote this in response to a prodding that wouldn’t leave me alone.
Thinking on some people who walk in the limelight or of a high public profile, I started to be
perplexed about our willingness to BROADCAST the latest Hollywood gossip or the latest
political “fall from grace”. I am in no way condoning unwarranted behaviors and these are
times that call for the appropriate action to be taken no matter who the offenders are. I’m
just saying shame on those who are so willing to point fingers and yet do or would do some of
the very same things if they could. Lightwalker

A New Morning

A new morning once again,
promising difference from others before.
Beautiful this morning as I write with pen
and I feel my spirit soar.

I cannot help but stand in awe
of all that I see before me.
Once again, I hear the call
to write of what my eyes see.

Quiet subdues the great expanse
of the forest to the mountains beyond.
A hawk overhead in the great distance
circles steadily and then is gone.

The sky takes on a hazy look
with the sun not quite coming through.
It is to me as if nothing took
away from this beautiful view.

This day for me holds promises anew
as I see it's quiet start.
Opportunities in this day will come to
strengthen and encourage my heart.

The Passage of Spring

The face of Spring on this misty morn
invites the seer of sights.
The mountain peaks in fog are adorned
as you view ascending heights.

Quiet rules this early daylight hour
while some yet nestle in bed.
Here, amidst misty morning showers,
of beauty, so much can be said.

Nature parades this passage of Spring
with colors and brightest green.
Flying about, the small songbirds sing;
such wonder in these glorious scenes.

It's Not About Me, It's All About You

You’ve seen what I would do for You,
I’m reminded that You always knew.
It’s not about me, it’s all about You
so it matters not what You lead me through.

It matters not what You lead me through
for all of my days are to glorify You.
If to YOUR plan I will stay true,
there’s no telling what I’ll do for You.

Adversity is harnessed and used of You
but those who know this truth are few.
Others think harsh correcting is what You do
but in reality, they just don’t have a clue.

You came that others know what is true,
that they see life from Your point of view.
Then, the life that they never knew
would be there for them because of You.

In His Strength

Help me to use wisely
O Lord Father I pray
the strength that you give
to me from day to day.

Trusting in You daily
in all I do and say,
Your strength is sufficient
for me in every way.

Lord help me to love
and always honor you
being ever the witness
to gladly glorify You.

For my life is an epistle,
seen and read of all men.
They may never see the Word
that is written for them in pen.

Lord, impart your strength now
for the work which yet remains,
that I may ever help others
to seek eternal gains.

Where God Is Near

The rising sun throws it’s first beams
across the morning glade.
These waking hours are as it seems
to me the strength of day.

I stop and take in as I walk
the newness of the sights:
the deer feeding among the stalks,
the hawk up high in flight.

For me this quiet time of day
is sanctuary here.
In this reprieve I want to stay,
in this, where God is near.

My Strength

There is a calling
to the inner depths of me
when I look at the
majesty of Your mountains.
Quiet and serene, they still me
as I am reminded once again, of You.
You who spoke
these mountains into existence
and are my Strength.
          AND
The Strength of those who
safely trust in, lean into
and rely upon and
confide in
YOU.

Let Your Words Take Flight

Throw yourself out there and yes, just write,
whatever it is your thoughts could be.
From heart to pen, let your words take flight
so that others your true thoughts will see.

The world is your invitation,
it has been and will yet always be.
To write in this, your life’s duration;
those words inside just long to come free.

It matters not, wherever you are
and you find that you reach for your pen,
for the more that you give in to this,
it will happen again and again.

Many will want to read what you write,
you do well to remember that fact.
It’s fulfilling to see your words take flight
as on the spur of the moment you act.
