Wilderness

The stern sun frowns and mocks
At the hide and seek of creatures sly
In the dunes of the wide  sandy stretch ;
One chases the other with survival shocks ,
While the wheeling winged vultures fly,
Viewing the supine, torn and scattered wretch
Being bitten or pecked in wild hunger,
With grunts and screeches to feel stronger .

The arid air greets the cacti hostile,
And the invisible , bleary blanket of heat
Envelopes, scorching and parching all through
The land of dying hope and dead smile ;
No shelter nor a hide anyhow to retreat ;
In light or in the dark , every meek move
Finds anxious uncertainty haunt with disdain,
Leaving no choice : breathe or abstain .

An awful aroma and fragrance dense
Fills the woodland and the thicket thickset ;
Whispering leaves and the avian melody
Back up the anxious roars,  and chatters intense ;
Any venture ends up in sigh and fret ;
Living is reduced to a receding parody ;
Might is right, and success a chance ,
And futile, pangs flow in resonance .

Round the lake is the overgrown greenery --
A meadow of reeds and creeper- brace
Looking over the peeping lilies that smile ;
The large remnant mirrors the cosmic scenery
To make up for the missing trace --
A little domain to live in , the while ;
The spell of croaks and chirps in tune
Enlivens it's own ethos with the croon.

The cruel and crafty hunters of prey,
Wait to pounce on creatures indolent ;
Often the seeker is sought unawares as victim ;
And the run goes on night and day,
With a blend of action and reaction silent ;
No order nor method prim : just so grim !
The realm with space and possession is null ,
The impulsive spirit of life goes dull..!

The Lost Hope

Flying from out of the eerie world of spirits
The Sphinx has come to crouch and pose :
'To close Pandora's Box solve the puzzle of Greed !'
Trust  not  Luck , nor  Fate  but  work  with  wits ;
The fire of greed and desire plays havoc ,
Crippling the ability to seek content even in bits
And  wipe   out   the  artefact  of  divine   replica ;
"Abracadabra " ,here  is  the  only  panacea  that  befits ;
Will Oedipus or Jason rescue the race , comatose
' Solve the puzzle of Greed to close Pandora's Box ! '
And find the new glow of hope that emits .

Equilibrium

It rained and poured heavily as never before
Washing away hills,downs and the plain;
Sure it was a commited lofty drain
To revive the struggling, straggling live galore;
Lightings thunder like pretentious promoters
Heckled over the ravage and disorder
Off and beyond all stay and border;
Nothing but just Water : muddy ripples and floaters
Strange it is the serene freshness and poise
Follows all such mockery excess and ablution
The essence of being is contained within evolution
While all human play and way fills noise
And only sound and fury to conclude
In hallow vain , absurd and futile a feud.

The Rooster and the Peacock

On a lower branch of a crooked mango tree ,
Flapping wings and shining tail , in charge
Perched the happy rooster steady and free,
Intending to view his surroundings at large ,
And announced sharp : cock- a- doodle - doo :
' Know that after all the world is mine too '.

From the cloudy grey sky , like an alien
Descended a peacock in all blue and green ,
Jiggling crest and dangling super-tail in wont mien
And in proud stance began afresh to preen ,
Intimidating the little aborigine with a scream
Aloud to defy all and claim to be supreme

Minutes lapsed before the ice was broken
As the intruder in a half- friendly way said ,
Poising : '' Of what entity are you a token..
'' Your   feathers  are  but greenish   black  and  red ;
'' Yet is there pride in quarrels and crowing vanity ,
'' To end up as a delicacy for the humanity '' .

The other lost his temper and did thus retort :
' Perhaps you know not how they relish
' Even their  drinks , naming  my  tail  smart ;
'And  more , their  menu  we  do, forever  replenish ;
'For sporting too ,each kills the other with spur ,
' Truly a cringing thing to shame and abhor ' .

Amused , the artiste with the left foot
Straightened the talons and popped down in style
And as the clouds became heavy and acute ,
With feathers blue, green and brown, the while ,
Shining in full bloom and span, danced: a spell !
Rhythm, quiver and numerous eyes - a marvel !

Thus went the rival feats of the fowls twain
While from behind the thick foliage unseen ,
A cuckoo began its sweet song in pitched strain
To match  the mood  and  melody - abstract and keen ;
Somewhere in the distance the grey clouds began
To jump down in drizzles and droplets to scan .

The Domain of Psyche

Within the ambit of the psyche untamed
Is the wonder cavern with hanging thoughts
And projections prompting peevish plots-
Thick and prickly notions oddly framed
Fall about, on the least spur of moment
Which ruffles the indignant frozen ill-will-
Once a serene pond of feelings still -
To avenge, seeking pleasure from torment.

Classic structures replaced deserts and the dale
Waters and mounds changed their form and course
Feats were  performed with earthly resource ;
Mimetic modes enabled all flights and sail,
Dive in the deep ,or reach across the shores , With ease, earlier than the reliable sun Or ply endways with minutes lost none
All ventured true with disciplined lores ..!

Jack of all trades Ignores the essence : Concur living with the rhythm of Nature ,
Cosmic chord in accord with the geo- culture ;
The achiever soul mentors the mind immense.

Pearls of Joy

The pure pleasure or the serene pain
That oozes helplessly out of the deeds honest
Leaves no burden , nor squeezing strain ;
The cordial words of solace are blest
And are duly prompted by the just mind

The pure joy of a dancing flower ,
The warm touch of the moderate sun
The sprinkling drizzles from the clouds that hover ,
Have no match for  the joy beyond fun ;
Enough and more, often choke the breath

An ignorant lie or manoeuvred gesture ,
A manifest design or clever artefact ,
Perhaps could never settle like the pearly moisture
On the lean grass or along a leafy tract
And instill keen delight in the wilderness .

The Winter

Smiles and blooms have crawled away in haste;
Cool sweetness and incense of the prime
Have receded into the pothole of time
With the irritant summer and the rainy waste ;
Winter is an epitome of the silent knell --
Pale , pensive, plaintive, heavy and cold ;
Colours are all lost in the grey fold,
With the bright charm of the bygone spell ,
As she sits robed in ashen attire again ,
Streching herself with limbs wide across
The deceased crags and the patchy moss ,
Lining randomly along the sickly plain
Weary, withering, wany life and all. ..
Are thus sadly shrouded in the last fall..!

Ice-Cream

At the end of the victorious war, Willy-nilly
Against the epidemic, a contest was held to crown
The container delicacy  , most chosen and emptied fully ;
Imagine the viers lot from all quarters flown :
Mexican, Thai, Chinese, Indian, Local  and   all  ;
Plain, spiced, soft, crisp, jelly and stuffy ,
Set and arranged in a musical buffet hall ,
All moods to turn pleasant from being huffy --
Of  clairvoyants, connoisseurs  and  persons  elite  ;
The task  was  just  to  eat  and  perform  a  feat ;
The starter's ' go ' was given and the show began ,
Old and young, lean and hefty , woman and man ,
Had but only one container to Scoup-stream :
The  motley  flavoured  and  soul-satiable ,  Ice-Cream...!

The Imbalancing Ruse

Fresh and serene droplets rest in galore
As the dawn smiles on them to adore
The tiny prettiness in spectral mode
Downs from out of the heavenly abode ;
In dainty drips and drizzles the elixir
Enlivens  and recharges the aqua-spur

Beyond the brim and out of norm
It sinks the floater and defaces the firm -
Mounds or  mansions,weed or tree
Huge or little - are all toppled free ;
Strange are the ways of the cosmic strain
Be it the wind ,fire,tremor or rain

Atop the floating debris and decay,
The  self-centred biped strides astray
With a whimsy wand and febrile chill ,
Streching the vicious arm for infinite fill
Of the precious trash ,never for any use;
Yet as ' trade ' - the imbalancing ruse.

The Frog And The Chameleon

From out of the lacustrine,dense tract, green
Lining the silent mossy forlorn lake keen ,
Came out leaping and hopping,a fat frog ;
He landed and stopped on a reedy clog ,
As he saw the Chameleon on a stem frail ,
Gripping fast the rush with its prehensile tail ,
Croaking and flicking his tongue around,
To relish one and all the insects found ;
He made his own way on the rich moss,
And back and forth on the spread-over grass ;
His acrobatics envied and enraged the rival
Watching silently with rolling eyes since arrival .

The crestfallen had missed his chance thrice
And retracted to sit still like frozen ice -
Having lost  to the place his colour and stance ;
Thrill and anxiety did the  crux spell enchnce ;
A surly serpent suddenly sprang,as if to mock
Hissing , out of the crevice beneath a rock ;
It was a measured move -a prize catch ;
The victim was more a meal than a match ,
And went in neatly with a suppressed wail  ;
The avenged lizard quirked and muttered his hail :
Pride goes pouncing and swooping before a fall ,
Thus to end up with a whimper, defeat and all.
