My life is not my own
yet I choose to believe
there is a piece of me
that I must retrieve
to break the hold
of those who bind me
I rise higher than them
and put them behind me
I now hold something
that's very precious
which now I can see
leaves me breathless
my destiny is mine own
and now I see
that I did in fact retrieve
the best part of me

I try but may fail
with no place to go
Just keep fighting
was what I was told

I lasted longer than
I ever expected
I try so hard
Just to be accepted

A tale never told
I fought so hard
till I got old
A fight to be remembered
was what we were told
some didn't listen
but I was sold

for I must know
