When the Soldier Came Home

- When the Soldier Came Home -

When the man of war returns to his home town,
When the shock and awe were for another’s toy crown,
Too late he heard the cries for peace,
Too soon he let his anger crease.

After thought had bought a new beginning,
He could stop the bullets ringing,
Say “No more shall I kill my brother”,
Scream “YES, we can love one another”.

To fuel the brightest spark of what we can be,
Forgive but don’t forget the lessons of history,
A man can always plant a seed,
With grace knowing all people bleed,
A new tree must grow and beauty flower,
Without the need for greed and power.

His simple words from simple lips,
Out of reach from lavish fingertips,
“We are all together; be it rag or gown”,
So always be kind,
To the man of war,
In your home town.

Short Morals

- Short Morals -

What we know we should,
What we wish we could,
Those living in sin,
Those loving the grin,
They preach and decry,
They laugh and bye-bye,
I try to live my life just,
Because in my heart I feel I must.
