Goodbye 2020

There's chaos and destruction, death and despair.
My time here is running out, so what do I care?

Babies and grand babies need a safe place to play.
Without some pervert standing less that a foot away.

Young people being killed by the ones hired to protect
Aretha would be heartbroken in this land of no respect.

Death consumes life daily, still the body counts rise.
Like a time clock keeping count when someone else dies.

Evil in a business suit pursues ungodly deeds.
Uses the power of his authority to fulfill carnal needs.

Everyone preys on everyone, only the strong will survive.
Natural selection population control, who'll imake it out alive?

From the back to the beginning of any history book.
You'll see where we're headed. It's in there. Take a look.

We didn't just deny the Father, we omitted him totally.
So we can't possibly ask him to keep our country free.

Holiday gatherings aren't safe. It's best to stay inside.
But lets send our kids to school where there's nowhere to hide.

So good bye 2020, I can't say I don't want you to go.
Will 2021 be any better? God I sure hope so.

Craziness

There are some that think craziness is something we can control-
Not like our emotions, it's much deeper than the soul.

It's like a chain reaction... Cause and effect so to speak.
Environmental karma... what you sow, you also reap.

Over exposure to the craziness, pretty soon you'll start to see.
You must stop and ask yourself, "is the crazy inside me.

When everyone you thought was crazy, suddenly start to make perfect sense....
That is when you realize, you're on the same side of the fence.

Yes there's a moral to the story. It's like the phrase "catch 22"
Do you really truly go crazy??? Or does the crazy go to you?

March 30, 2019

March 30th of last year, was on a Saturday.
The life I knew was about to change, in such a major way.

I was 45 and had never seen someone take their final breath.
I wanted nothing to do with the dark cold subject of death.

I had taken some Red Cross classes on performing CPR.
The events from that spring morning would be memorable by far.

Things were usually quite different. I would've been there the day before.
I really had no idea what the Good Lord had in store.

At the time you had a lady friend who usually was there.
Im sure seeing it all unfold would be more than she could bear.

So everything was in order as HE planned for it all to be.
HE'D perform this amazing miracle using a simple soul like me.

You didn't have the first complaint, of any pains in your chest.
But the whole entire episode would be different than the rest.

I heard you cough a couple times but never said a word.
And I still get chills recalling the next sound that I heard.

A loud crashing sound was what came next but still not a word was said.
Lying there on the kitchen floor, my dad, my hero was dead.

It's a miracle I kept it together to do what I had to do.
For 15 minutes, til help arrived, I pumped your heart for you.

Doctors said I saved your life but I also saved your brain.
So yea I'm sure if it happened today, I'd do it all again.

In a split second I had to act , and as scared as I could be,
I went toe to toe with death and kept my Daddy here with me.

History Making

United States on lockdown.
It's no longer safe to go out.
There's a new enemy attacking.
It's going to be deadly, no doubt.

Millions will be affected.
Thousands won't make it through.
All humanity is in danger.
The next victim could possibly be you.

A pandemic unlike any other.
All of the headlines read.
Top leaders are issuing warnings.
That all human beings should heed.

Life as we knew it is over.
Rules help to keep us alive.
Videos are starting to surface.
That are showing the fight to survive.

A war very different from the others.
The whole world is fighting to be free.
New soldiers of a different uniform.
Fight an enemy that noone can see.

Those in the medical community.
We all owe our lives to you.
From the bottom of my heart I say Thank You.
For doing everything that you do

Daily news reports the death toll.
Numbers like we've never seen.
Future students will find in textbooks.
The pandemic called CoVid 19.

Stolen Moments

Stolen moments...
That's what we share.
Stolen moments....
Show how we care.

Stolen moments....
In a small time frame.
Stolen moments....
Too wild to tame.

Stolen moments....
From Heaven above.
Stolen moments....
To make sweet love.

Stolen moments....
Lying still in your arms.
Stolen moments....
Feeling safe from all harm.

Stolen moments....
Until you walk out my door.
Stolen moments....
Leave me yearning for more.

Stolen moments...
No matter what we do.
Oh how I love
My stolen moments with you.

A Birthday Card

Hello Mr. Postman.
I need to mail this card.
Im not sure how much postage,
For it must travel very far.

No... Not to California.
Or anywhere in the States.
I must get it to a mailbox,
Just outside those pearly gates.

There's a birthday coming up,
For a special someone there.
The pain I feel this time of year,
Is more than I can bear.

I've got a special one this year.
It's filled with ALL my love.
That's why I must send it,
To Heaven up above.

It's addressed to My Everything.
But you'll know where it goes.
It's always been a special one,
That Heaven only knows.

Im asking you to deliver it.,
To where it needs to be.
See to it that he gets it
Since you can't bring him back to me.

White Girl

I took a ride with a White Girl with no regards to life.
Never once considered I was a mother and a wife.

She took me down a dead end and when she got me there
She took every penny to my name without a single care.

She robbed me of my dignity and independence too.
Almost took my way of life. There was nothing I could do.

Before I could turn around she dropped me on my face
Then I knew it was time to put her in her place.

I told her with an attitude, "THIS IS WHERE YOU GET OUT"
And God stepped in to help since that's what He's about.

I'm here today to tell you if you need to "numb the pain"
Talk to God, don't take a ride with a white girl called Cocaine.

A Christmas Letter

Dear Heavenly Father,
You sent an amazing gift.
Not just for me, but the world.
wrapped in swaddling clothes.
Not under a tea, but a star.
The gift of everlasting life.

This year I have a gift for you.
wrapped inside my beating chest.
Slightly used but still works.
Invaluable to most-
But priceless to you.
My gift to you in broken and tattered form.
Broken but not obsolete...
My gift is my heart.

Not even close to perfect.
Cracked here and there...
Covered in stains....
Stains from sins and short comings
In your eyes though, it is spotless.
It now belongs to you Lord,
and it's all I have to give.
On this special day honoring you.

Happy birthday baby Jesus.
However, I'm the lucky one.
My Christmas present is your birthday present.
Love,
Opal

It's Halloween

Do things seem to get creepier
     Around this time of year?
Suddenly like all surroundings
Seem to cater to your every fear.

Everything becomes alot spookier
Even shadows begin to take form.
The time of year unexplainable things
     Mysteriously become the new norm.

Sounds, normally not thought about
Especially in the light of day.
Suddenly seem to be amplified
When the last ray of light goes away.

Look over there in the darkness.
     Just beyond the lantern's light.
Where sanity somehow escapes us.
And things go bump in the night.

Darkness.... A breeding ground for evil?
Are you sure what's been heard or seen?
Are your eyes and ears playing tricks on you?
    After all... It's only Halloween.

When You Love Someone

When you love someone with all your heart,
There's nothing you won't do.
There's no limit as to what
You'll put your body through.

When you love someone with all your heart,
There's nothing you won't try.
Their happiness is boundless.
For you the limit is the sky.

When you love someone with all your heart,
There's nothing you won't say.
Making sure they know you love them,
Each and every single day.

When you love someone with all your heart,
There's nothing you won't get.
Buying cards and gifts to let them know,
You're not finished loving them yet.

When you love someone with all your heart,
There's nothing you can't bear.
Fighting the forces that separate you,
If only to keep them there.

Alot of time spent looking at them,
Merely yearning to see their face
Because when you love someone with all your heart,
Nothing or noone could ever take their place.
