The Only Topic

The Only Topic
Every Morning I get up and the very first thing I do,
Is switch on the Teli, to find out the latest Hullabaloo.
Well it might be Carl, Sam or Kochy/Kochie on 7, 9, SBS or the ABC.
They won`t be talking about murder, riots or some ship in a storm out to sea.
You guessed it, it’s the Corona virus their on about and how much damage it has done.
The effect upon our economy, all the latest fatalities who have unfortunately succumbed, the stats of infected ones.
I`ve heard it all before, for months and months, on they go,
But I need to hear it again and again, even though it makes my spirit low.
We have mostly forgotten all the millions in refugee camps, around the place.
The starving, abused and mistreated who daily, have the same old issues to face.
We worry about the mental effects this is having on the people of our Land.
When we should be thanking God above for our fortune rare and Grand.
There is still a heap of freedom, plenty of food for us to buy.
Money from the government and civil servants who still care enough to try.
This is not a time of sorrow but a time to come awake.
To see what we are made of and give the crud a shake.
This world has always seen tragedy, wars, famine, disasters and pain
but it also has beauty, warmth , love, mateship and life giving rain.
So buck up ol chaps and put a grin above your chin
Not everybody loses and not everyone will win.
But we can all make our choices to either cry, grizzle or complain
Or to rejoice while the breaths still in us and to keep ourselves sane.
The virus isn’t here to deny us, rather it is another sort of test,
And like every challenge in history before, we will beat it just like we did the rest.

The Dunny Brush

THE DUNNY BRUSH
It has been here since modern sewerage was begun
and each water closet usually has at least one.
But to get a participant to use it, can really be a chore.
Most folk will use the paper but sadly for some, the Dunny brush ignore.
We have warned, scolded and abused them about their stain,
To grab the handle and scrub up and down again and again and again.
Many just don`t get it . They will not own their own poo,
so they leave it in the bowl. It is not their responsibility to clean the flamin loo.
So we have had workshops for the solution,
To brainstorm and solve the concern for this ablution.
Some have installed water jets to clean the soiled parts,
While others have janitors who make regular inspections while pushing their cleaning carts.
Alas, around here these luxuries we haven`t got,
so we ask you the Guest, to give it your best shot.
To learn the art of the toilet brush is easy, so don`t do your thing and run.
Grab it by the handle between forefingers and the thumb.
Now scrub it hard and sure till all traces are unstuck.
If it has caused you to sweat a bit, just remember,
It isn`t ours or theirs, its your smelly muck.

Vaccination Nation

VACCINATION OF THE NATION
Covid time is here. Folks are getting sick with its variants so deadly
and people all over the world are being locked down, so very readily.
And now we have the vaccinations to free us from the grave,
And give us back our freedoms to work and play and for some to misbehave.
Now experts and the not, are claiming that some of the vacs aren`t safe nor authenticated,
they weren`t tested and inspected right so getting the Jab should be hesitated.
Still, others say that suspect substances, have been added, making it rather bad
which scares a lot who get their advice from hearsay or media, that is very sad.
It has been said that the medical labs are making profits galore – that`s why it`s been rolled out quick,
and Government conspiracies abound as to how they in power want to train, manipulate us and put a poison in our bodies to make us really sick.
Ah, none of that is new – it has all been claimed before.
In rare cases – in far of places , the masses have been deceived,
But eventually the truth came out and the culprits got what was in store.
The fact is that for most, the vaccine will prevent you dying from this virus.
You will move about more freely and the airlines, will once again fly us.
We can visit family and friends from far away and go to sports events,
attend church , have a wedding with lots of guests and enjoy many entertainments.
For those who refuse to get their dose, well the outlook is rather bleak.
You may lose your job and some freedoms – treated like a Leper so to speak.
You may catch Covid and end up with a ventilator on your face
Or find yourself in a long box surrounded by satin and lace.
So see your trusted Doctor and get some sound advice.
Go to two or three and don`t be scared to ask them twice.
It can`t do any harm to enquire, unless your afraid of a sound opinion.
In the end it is your choice – you can either go away with a frown on your face or
go away grinning.
