Touch and Go

When the game begins, I do not fret,
The ball about to be tipped.
It bounces toward me, and I immediately feel
The urge to drive and kick.

It comes to me, a decision I must make,
I do not have much time to think.
As soon as I feel the texture of leather,
The ball is in my court.

Defense begins to clamp its claws tightly,
In fear of what is to come.
I feel the ball leaving my fingertips,
And watch it swish through the net.

A battle we face throughout the game,
The clash of effort and hustle.
As time winds down, we begin to feel
We have won the battle this time.

I Can'T Imagine My Life Without

I can’t imagine my life without it.
How could I be there,
If nothing I could do without it
I could not be anywhere.

The idea of such a thing may be plain,
The reality of it so real,
I would feel as if I am going insane,
And realize not having it would be surreal.

It would be mine and mine alone,
No one could match what I could possess.
My car would make me feel I’m grown,
Never ceasing to impress.

My life, my pride, my only way,
I could not live without it.
Life would be slow and there’s no way;
I couldn’t imagine my life without it.

Family

Without them I would be nothing,
Lost in the trivial sea of people.
They make me feel as if I am something
Raising me under the church steeple.

Growing up with them has been a pleasure
That many long to obtain.
Driven along a path to find true treasure,
Family keeps me from going insane.

Love does not come with ease,
Even with those closest to you.
Keep your kin and do not displease
The ones who will always stay true to you.
