The Elevation of Today's Generation

THE ELEVATION OF TODAY'S GENERATION
By: Sikolwethu Mthethwa

Burning hotter than the flames of a furnace,
Surpassing the depths of the hollows beneath Earth's face,
Rumbling more violently than a million earthquakes.
Delicately constructed by our young minds
And conceived by our hearts.
It is more valuable than gold mines
Nothing surpasses this urge

With great authority it dictates to us,
With immense force like that of a storm it channels us.
Hurry now ,answer it's call, make no fuss.

The call to bloom like the flowers of spring,
To arise from our slumber.
The call to be the change we aspire to bring
To Earth our Mother.

This urge has assigned us a sacred mission,
To be the elevation of today's generation.
To ignite the flames of progress with our muscle,
To stay true and dedicated to our hustle.

Ahead of us lies hurdles and challenges
With the foul intent to batter us and leave us in bandages.
But worry not our father from above is watching us.
He has bestowed Upon us the power to trample these challenges.

Completing this mission will not be a breeze.
But do not let up,
Because when we conquer, all suffering will seize
And to the gates of success we will proudly hold the keys.

Let us use our muscle
To turn mother Earth into our castle
In order for this to manifest,we must stay true to our hustle.

The Hate You Give

THE HATE YOU GIVE
By: Sikolwethu Mthethwa

Shed a tear for the kids who never had a compassionate witness to all their pain
Caregivers quick to label them  dramatic or insane
Shed another tear for kids whose attempts to impress their guardians  were in vain
So they Decided to curl up and "stay in their lane"

Without empathy and compassion can we be sensitive to the pain of others?
A strong message to the dismissive mothers and fathers
Nothing is more dangerous than a child that wonders:
"Do my parents even love me? "
"Why does everyone else seem to be above me? "

Thoughts that leave em broken and insecure
Dont ever be too busy to ask if they're okay until you're sure.
Coz neglect pierces the spirit to very the core

And if you spot withdrawal
Keep the suspense of drug use at a minimal
Do away with blaming outside influence
Rush to the rescue before they lose their innocence

Approach swiftly but softly
Be sincere and immerse yourself wholly
In the struggles and pain of your child
Know that to them their struggles are anything but mild
Listen actively without passing harsh judgments
Your words of comfort are never to be just cold statements

Be tender and gentle
For your aim should be to mend and not dismantle
In your presence your child should feel secure
Smother them with unconditional love until their heart is no longer sore
With goodness in their heart They will once again be pure

Know that a parent can always do more
To support, love and guide their kids as they grow
For nothing compensates for consistent emotional support...

Power To You

Power To You
 By: Sikolwethu Mthethwa

In the deep dark waters of a lockdown
slouched in a dark corner of despair in quarantine confines.
I watch in vain as a waterfall of tears dominates her eyes.
Her head bowed between her knees.
I am pained as the loudness of her sobs increases.

Hammered by society's labels
that have dimmed her light and
left her soul in shackles.
Oppressed by the obsessed venomous slithering snakes
that claim to cherish her.

Black female child, dear Black Female child,
with dreams so large and thoughts so wild
Never let up, keep your head up.
Let them bare witness to the thunder in your voice
and the lightning in your words.
Blind their sight with your light.
Wear your crown with confidence
and let them acknowledge your very existence.

In envy and astonishment, let them bow before you.
Let your greatness be evident.
Dear Black Female Child, I say Power To You.

Things That Make Hearts Break

THINGS THAT MAKE HEARTS BREAK
BY: Ckolwethu Mthethwa

Like glass, matters of the heart are fragile.
Handled carelessly they can be fatal.
Ignored they induce an ache worse than a headache.
Enter: "Things That Make Hearts Break".

Deceiving pretty smiles
and truthfully spoken lies.
Convincing gleaming eyes,
tragic lows and heavenly highs.
Rejection and loud cries.
Lost connections and broken ties.

There's only so much
that our fragile hearts can take.
These are some of the things
that make hearts like mine & yours break...

This Poetry

By: Ckolwethu Mthethwa

For this poetry serves as my medication...
A Prescription I take so in my mind there can be a separation
Between what's real and my overthought delusions
Best part Is I can never overdose on these stanzas
My soul  consumes them infinitely, still my body stands

For this poetry serves as my therapist
It knows my struggles and it shows me sympathy
It has mastered the skill of empathy
I come to it heavy with stresses,
but after a one on one my problem tank empties

Pop pills and heal your body, your heart and mind remain in turmoil
I turn a page, and allow my pen to spit at it  the venom from my thoughts and feelings.
My breathing slows and the tension in my muscles eases
My brain quietens and my heart relaxes

Unlike the pills you pop
This poetry serves to heal the body and soul
Sedating me without risk of a seizure
Bringing me peace beyond measure
Making me stay calm under all this pressure.

Defeating Defeat

DEFEATING DEFEAT
 By: Sikolwethu Mthethwa

This is not the end...
Until time packs his bags in readiness to leave,
we will proudly walk this land.
to she and he who have thrown in the towel,
this is the message I want to urgently send.
It is the birth-child of a solitary mind,
it has been cast out to the world and has become
everyone's treasure to find.

In the very midst of our darkest hour
be defiant and proudly refuse to let your heads lower.
Depict the resilience of our kind.
Show them the unspoken power of the black child.
Our race has lived, through trial and error we have learned,
the bragging rights to be labelled human we have earned.
We are well on our way to the very pinnacle of our existence,
with us we have an impenetrable shield dubbed perseverance.

We were given this Earth.
Greatness was coded and embedded into our genetics even before birth.
Though the names of our ancestors were dragged in the dirt,
we are here to undo centuries of suffering and hurt.
Warn the opposition,
let them know we will play our position.
We will play our position until we have prosperity,
until mother Earth weeps no more and we have restored her serenity.

Nowhere To Go

NOWHERE TO GO
By: Sikolwethu Mthethwa

Where do the sinners go
Where do the ones without a shred of hope left go
Where do the slighted go
Where do the confused youths go
Where do the heavily burdened  go

Nowhere
All of them stay here
The sinners roam the  Earth till death
The hopeless hopelessly search for hope until they lose hope of finding hope
The slighted fall in between the cracks in Lady Justice's hands never to see her in action for them
The confused youths tirelessly search for a sense of direction
Exposed to deception all in the name of finding a place to belong
The heavily burneded soldier on with their burdens on their withering backs
They wear their troubles as if they were slacks

All the while the world revolves on its axis
Each person at war with something
So there really isn't time to stop and ask what makes the next man cry
And you can't change that, I dare you to try.

The Bloody Tears of a Poet

THE BLOODY TEARS OF A POET
 By: Sikolwethu Mthethwa

I am drowning...
A wide smile on my face
But my soul is  frowning
For it is sinking to a dark place
In my head the devil's voice sounding

"You are inadequate", he whispers
In my ear.
Immediately, his poisonous words instill a great fear
I  bare witness as my eyes shed a tear.
I curse life and loathe to be here
Wishing my day of passing was near.

I dig deep into the trenches of my soul,
Hoping to find the lies in his words.
All I find is a deep dark hole
There my essence and being lie in their death beds.

Will I ever resurrect?
Will I ever live not just exist, in fact?
My purpose destroyed, now to this world I  cannot make an impact.

The sharp blades of despair have pierced my heart.
Into shreds my confidence has been ripped apart.

Wishing every breath was my last,
Living is a chore, an exhausting must.
If Jesus is coming back can he walk a little fast,
I hope his arrival awakens my soul
So I can be free from this gloom at last.

The Stuff of Hopes, Dreams and Wishes

By:Sikolwethu Mthethwa

In readiness for my journey to the land of dreams,
I bring my pillow closer to the full moon
And wrap myself around the blanket of stars that litter the night sky
While the Serene breeze airily sings me a lullaby

One deep breath to purge myself of day's stresses,
My eyelids take their final bow
And stay true to their vow: to be the blanket that keeps my eyes warm
And protect them from
Any disturbance as I slumber

Now I am resting
If I were a bird, on the surface of the moon I would be nesting
My body leisurely drifts into the stillness of night
As if a clover falling to the ground.
Night holds me in a soothing embrace
Asleep and at peace, but my mind begins to race
It creates a world within a world.
A world in which my desires prove to be true
A world in which there's candid affection between me and you
I would say the sky is the limit, but there is no sky here
Only possibilities that know no bounds.
A world in which we're kind to Earth our mother,
Each other
And obidient to God our father.

Not all is peaches and cream
Wars loom and disease is still prevelant
But the absence of pursuit of power and  greed
Render these predicaments far from permanent
Woman and man can gather
With their minds sharp and hearts light as a feather
They strategize
Instead of fantisize; on ways to put Earth's problems to rest
One at a time.
In this world my mind has created
The brilliance of our species is elevated
Our resilience is revealed and our being celebrated
Our moves and  progression are carefully calibrated

The loss of life at the hands of each other is minimized
The slow death of our mother totally ceased
The number of those in God's favor greatly increased

It is in my wishes to bring this world to the one we all live in
Maybe to the force of Love for each other we'd finally give in
And the real progression of our species would finally begin
