A Virtuous Woman

A virtuous woman is so full of love
              She's filled with wisdom from heaven above
             She keeps herself from the immoralities of life
            She gives up a lot making the ultimate sacrifice
          She never gets pressured she makes her own mind
            When temptation comes she has always declined
             She is misunderstood to her family and friends
          She's considered an outcast because she won't bend
         Though pressured from peers she stands through it all
           She is a virtuous woman determined to stand tall.

Not My Home

My continence is sad because of the things we go through;
         Seems no one understands, not a soul to talk to;
              As we wrestle to cope with life every day;
            We pause and wonder if we're here to stay;
            We are content when things are going fine;
          But when we get into trouble we want to resign;
              No matter how often we want to give up;
          We sometimes still  feel in this life we're stuck;
        I understand the feeling seems the pain never ends;
          But it's just temporary and a new life begins;
         So try not to worry because you're never alone;
       The world where we live is surely not our home.

How Do I Love Thee

How do I love thee, my heart is filled with joy
               With every stroke of love, I feel just like a boy
              Remember when we met, I had no words to say
            My heart was beating fast, I'll never forget that day
             And oh the dream I had before we actually met
        A beautiful dream of you and I and the timing God had set
              I did not understand why I would dream of you
                But God had a plan and I didn't have a clue
          A few years went by with the dream stuck in my mind
             And when I finally met you, I knew it was a sign
               This is how I love thee, let me count the ways
      The love just keeps getting stronger with all the passing days.

The Cost of Freedom

Freedom does not come easy but at a very high price;
          If only we could comprehend the dreadful sacrifice;
       At home we celebrate the freedom that we have arrived;
    Never giving a second thought for the ones that lost their lives;
       At night before we go to bed we're on our knees to pray;
     But only to ask the Lord for material things and more pay;
    While the young men and women are fighting day and night;
    We're sitting in our comfort zones with not a worry in sight;
    So when you stop and think about the freedom that you got;
    Think of our sons and daughters and send some prayers out.

Field of Dreams

In a field not far away a field where dreams and reality lay;
     A field where all your running tears have turned into gold over the years;
                 A field over time that your heart was broke;
                 It turned into love in a field that was soaked;
               In a field with no heartaches and no more tears;
           But only fulfilled dreams that grew over the years;
       It's the water that came down from your tear filled eyes;
               Generated from  the hurt  you held inside;
              So now you live on though hard it may seem;
        For the tears that you shed are in the field of dreams.

Time

To everything there is a season;
              If you read the bible you find out the reason;
                        A time to laugh and a time to cry;
                         A time to live and a time to die;
                         A time to kill and a time to heal;
                       A time to hide and a time to reveal;
                      A time to plant and a time to uproot;
                      A time to mourn and a time to salute;
                    A time to embrace and a time to refrain;
                     A time to search and a time to abstain;
                     A time to keep and a time to put away;
                      A time to mend and a time to repay;
                     A time to keep silent and a time to talk;
                         A time to ride and a time to walk;
                         A time to love and a time to hate;
                         A time to war and a time to ligate.

He's Watching You

Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised
                  The Lord is good to all and to all His life He gave
                 He watches over the poor who have nothing at all
            He watches over the sick and hears them when they call
                He watches over the widow who's feeling all alone
            He watches over the homeless that are without a home
              He watches over the lame that are not able to walk
            He is a voice in the wilderness for those that cannot talk
              He watches over the blind that cannot see their way
               He's their strength and joy He is their brighter day
             He watches over the hungry who have no food to eat
          He's bread that falls from heaven, He's God that is complete.

The Ghetto

I was born in the ghetto to a poor black man
          Momma cleaned houses and daddy was a field hand
       It was tough growing up with seven children in the home
      We did what we could to get by we were always left alone
         The older siblings had to get jobs at a very early age
     We were no more than ten or twelve it was work at that stage
    Some days dad would make soup, no meat or veggies to put in
        He would only use corn meal we really took it on the chin
            Sometimes life seems unfair especially in the ghetto
     Whenever you think you're coming out it's back to ground zero.

The Man

There is a man from Galilee
                          In hell and heaven he has the key
                         He heals the sick and raise the dead
                   He gives sight to the blind the hungry he fed
                  He walks upon water and calms the raging sea
                       We are his branches and he is our tree
                    Through hurt and pain, sorrows and shame
                   There is deliverance and healing in his name
                     To call his name there's power and might
                  He hears when you call be it day or be it night
               He is the one you talk with as you kneel down to pray
                   Only call the name of Jesus and you will be okay.

A Fervent Prayer

Save me dear God with thy outstretched hand
                     Forgive me of my sins for I am but a man
                  Come into my heart and fill me with thy love
                  Speak to me thy word from the father above
                 I believe that Jesus died and then He did arise
               I except you as my savior behind thy cross I hide
           Thank you for thy spirit and for lending a listening ear
             Just like the Prodigal son I know my father is here.
