What Really Matters

She cried
He died
Many regrets
Growing debts
Nothing really mattered
Threw his ashes off a building, watched as they scattered
She'd felt so guilty
So wretched and filthy
Always denying herself of blame
Her heart dead, its blown out flame
All she ever wanted
Now, the rest of her life to be haunted
Why's everyone so cruel
The blood she drowns in, it's her own pool
The memory of him will always linger
His last words quite literally did sting her
So truly empty, honestly hollow
Left alone with no one around to follow
It never happened at all
No scapegoat to take the fall
Now she dies
No one knows, cares, or cries
Along go long kept secrets
Simply carried away in two seperate caskets
As they were lowered into the ground, you couldn't help but flinch as they clanked &
clattered
The story ends with no one left flattered

Bereavement's Scintillation

Collapsed
Lifeless being
Why--why must I inhabit you
Mapped
Out in front of you
Plans for reviewing
Plans of renewing
Sound of your voice oh so alluring
But never will your voice be reassuring
Grasped
In the palm of your hand
Is something that you can no longer stand
It is yourself
Along with all your pelf
Never would you expect this
You're not perfect, clearly amiss
You've lived your life in duplicity
Deja vu, over and over again with this serendipity
The glimmer of the blade
Beckons you and you are allayed

Finding Yourself In the Palm of Your Hand

Loneliness
Within the palm of your hand
Your life
Under a rock
Your future
A few paces behind you
Pain
Within the crevices of your mind
Good deeds
In a fast food dumpster
Happiness
On a street corner
Friends
In the last place you look
Faith
In a faithless person
Life
Inside of a hollowed corpse
Your soul
Trapped inside of a mirror
Fear
In and around your fingernails
Yourself
Way down deep in a puddle of loneliness

Smirks By the Shore

Smirk of deceit upon your face
No use, cannot keep up at your pace
My toe's stuck in the drain of the past
Such an insalubrious amount of speed
Impossible to meet the future going that fast
Insane, but what's the need
We'll never meet eye to eye
Your's look to the sky
And mine lay dry & lifeless on the ground
Blood on your hands, see what you really found
Fingers--tipless
Eyes cry, confusion, lipless
You're not making any sense
Ears fall off, just can't hear it anymore
Hair falling out, blame me, stressed & tense
I'll not be in your way any longer, you'll find me face down by the shore

Marvelous

Beautiful
So secretive
Such a mystery
A lie which glides across truth
An open palm
The fist which comes down hard upon your head
Won't see me smile
A lapse in time
The bullet missing from the barrel
The lost mind
Wandering the dark alleys at all hours of the night
The missing are now the found
It's all just so marvelous

Familiarity

The familiar glazing over of the eyes
The all too strange stare
Mismatched eyebrows
And in-grown hairs
I was sure
Sure I knew that person
Then I opened the medicine cabinet
And she, she disappeared
Just like dew on a summer afternoon

The Bottle's In Your Hand

This is it
This is the day it all changes
It all just rearranges
So it can all fit
Into this oddly shaped mold
In order
For you to grow old
The answers to all your questions lay in an old decoder
You tell me you'd like to go in peace
But please, you beg, don't put me in a box
You don't want to be known as the dearly departed
Because life's not supposed to end before it ever even got started
Sitting there, spaced out, on a pile of ancient rocks
Not much of a life for you to try and piece
Together, well, whatever
And so on, and son, forever and ever
To help you remember
The changes, that never
Even took place
Along with all the memories you've tried to replace
You play dead
You said
Because you're living in fear
Having to let go of all that you once held near & dear
I hope it will come as no surprise
You know, the news of your untimely demise
Or would you prefer it to be called, the end of all your days to come
If you must--just go
Go right out the back door
Because I know you've never wanted to leave more
But, do you dare go?.......NO!
You just stay the same with your hand permanently occupied by that bottle of rum

Image

I hear
The quivering of fear
I see
A splitting image of who I want to be
Oh dear
Seems once again I stuck my head through the mirror
Why bother
No reason to change, what suits one always upsets another

Food For Senseless Thought

Slap wrist theory
Can you hear me
Because I can’t see you
You better believe this is true
Brandy was actually a fine boy
And “ohh Mandy” wasn’t needed at all
“Maggie May” never did wake up
But “Oh Sandy” she did, and at the moment she’s
Stranded at the cemetery
My girl likes to think all the time
I bet you think this poem is about you
Diamond rings and gold trinkets
All that which is not gold is gone
Before dawn
And its early rising
Fire in the sky
And dead men on the ground
Earth’s soil is decomposed human flesh
And manure is food for the taking
Swallow your pride
Choke on your shallow depth
It’s fun
Because it’s something new
It’s new because you forgot about it
Logic is nonsense
And your thought’s not even worth a penny
Doubt your reality
And bathe in your stupidity
Breathing in delusions
Have a compulsion to tell the truth
While dreaming of lies
So now you know
Tell me with a straight face that you can let it all go
