Deborah Priestly Poem
Eyes of Fire (for Devon)
Lost in the wind again
her eyes fire burning the life
out of mine - falling again
I believe she really loves me
but she is as distant as the leaves
flying everywhere
but never landing in my heart
Eyes of fire
body of desire
breasts, mountains
that I long to climb
but those eyes, blue, longing skies
I believe she really loves me
but she is like the moon
a longing of the mind
I want to believe
but she is gone
I want to believe
but she is afraid to love.

Deborah Priestly Poem
Embracing the floating leaves
They paint so free in amber, cherry sun
Bright eyes passing hope through lonely echo
River the voices receiving warmth
Branching air with hope, the forever flight
Dancing in Autumn leaves
Reborn through hands, what ancient lives
Shine empty earth with sacred fire
There is a birth expired within these deaths
Magic blessing releases wishes to light
Praying in the Autumn fire
Unleashing seeds instead of dead leaves
Atoning whispers that bleed new names
So temporary, this giving of time, souls unwind
Eternal the leaves that kiss their last breath.
