Aparna Jagannath Poem
His soul watches in absolute silence,
As the stream of mourners visit his grave,
Offering their heartfelt condolences,
To his grieving widow, asking her to be brave.
His dead heart still melts at the sight of his daughter,
Who buries her head in her mother's chest,
Tears pouring incessantly, in place of their erstwhile laughter.
As they watch his mortal remains being laid to rest.
His wife is still in a state of shock,
Reeling under the grief of his demise,
She feels as if her life seems to mock,
At her sorry state, giving her unwanted advice.
How he wishes this war had never taken place!
None would have lost their lives,
Had there been Lord Almighty's grace,
They would be with their children and wives.
Man does not realize the futility of a war,
It brings about destruction and leaves behind a scar,
Of pain and death that is not needed,
Seldom in his greed for power, has a man ever heeded,
To the words of wisdom given by the men of knowledge with deep insight,
He will prefer to die than giving up without a fight.

Aparna Jagannath Poem
Please stop sharing memes promoting hatred or flaring communal violence.
Do not revile anyone. Instead, observe silence.
Crimes against humanity transcend the boundaries of religion, caste, and creed.
Innocent citizens are the victims of human political greed.
Undeterred by their lack of sleep,
The brave soldiers of our country have a huge responsibility to keep.
They guard us so that we may lead peaceful lives.
Why should we attack each other with guns and knives?
Expand your outlook towards life and not your waistline.
Shed your hatred with your body weight, and you will be fine.
Otherwise, no one can stop the rivers of blood.
And losing your dear ones may cause the tears to flood.
Where's the smile that we exchanged with our neighbors and friends?
Posting everything on social media is setting dangerous trends.
Let's not focus on the evils of others.
Just think about the fate of the dead children's mothers.
Hatred, greed, anger, jealousy, and ego are the bane of human existence.
Do we ever think about the plight of the poor people and their subsistence?
Selfishness and craze for money lead to many a crime.
Yet, people keep committing the same mistake every time.
How desperate are my ears to listen to good news for a change!
But the media and press mint money from crimes. Isn't that strange?
Arson, rape, murder, kidnap, hijack, human trafficking, and many more.
Beware of your safety, as there are criminals galore.
How long are we going to be punished for no fault of ours?
How long will the rich and the powerful continue to exploit us by misusing their powers?
There are more questions than answers.
So, I finally cease.
When will we get complete respite from the mental and physical disease?

Aparna Jagannath Poem
Peace.
Mental peace is what I need.
More than diamond or gold.
Peace is very precious, indeed.
Everyone seeks it, whether young or old.
A peaceful life is God's greatest gift.
Peace is a must for a healthy heart and mind.
It gives us the much-needed uplift.
To overcome the obstacle of every kind.
A peaceful mind makes a wise choice.
It paves the way for a stress-free life.
Peace is not just the antonym for noise.
Peace is the weapon to counter strife.
Just imagine sitting under the shade of a tree.
And read a good book in peace.
Take a sip of hot coffee.
Your mind will surely be at ease.

Aparna Jagannath Poem
Kudos to the great blood-sucking mosquitoes.
They feast upon our blood as if we are tortillas or burritos.
They take advantage of their miniature size.
They bite us and take off, having claimed their prize.
Their buzzing sound is a nuisance to our ears.
They keep hovering around us, adding to our fears.
They are the carriers of deadly diseases.
Coming into contact with them increases,
The chance of falling sick and lying in bed.
We might recover or end up being dead.
This tiny creature seldom cares for death.
It continues tormenting us until it's last breath.

Aparna Jagannath Poem
In spite of celebrating our seventy-fifth Independence Day,
Our actual freedom is still miles away.
Freedom lies in our ability to breathe fresh air.
Freedom is the ability to show our love and care.
We are truly free when we are not hiding behind a mask.
Wearing an ugly face mask for hours together is not an easy task.
We are free when we go with our family on a pleasure trip.
We are free when we liberate ourselves from the smartphone's grip.
The Corona Pandemic has left us jobless for a while.
Nevertheless, we continue to eat, sleep and live in style.
Television has managed to invade our lives.
We watch idiotic serials featuring squabbling husbands and Wives.
News channels broadcast political thrillers.
Their debate shows are real mood killers.
Children have almost forgotten their way to their schools.
Laptops and mobiles are now their learning tools.
We will only be free when we get rid of this viral disease.
Our freedom is ensured when the acts of terrorism cease.

Aparna Jagannath Poem
Dreams were shattered like glass shards,
As innocent lives were pushed into the jaws of death.
Some doctors, engineers, accountants, and bards,
Extinguished were the candles of their breath.
A wife was on her way to meet her spouse,
While the daughters and sons aspired to study abroad,
Alas! Fate destroyed someone's beautiful house,
As the passengers were destined to embark on a journey to God.
Shocking news that sent waves of grief,
To all the mourners of the deceased,
A plane that crashed after its departure brief,
Time itself seemed to have ceased.
Every single drop of blood is precious
And so is every soul,
Let us tear down the wall of pride and status.
Saving humanity should be our ultimate goal.
