Rapture

Rapture

Do not hide or harden
quiet your passions
Silence the chatter
Beckon His capture

A still, silent heart
is ripe for rapture

Rapture my riot
capture my chaos
Be-still my heart
YOU ARE: with us

A still, silent heart
is ripe for rapture

The dead lifeless figment
that threatens to capture
Set ablaze and transform
with your net capture

A still, silent heart
is ripe for rapture

A wandering heart
with lust filled eyes
Come burst with your love
Lord; purify!

A still, silent heart
is ripe for rapture

Allow He who hooked the fishermen
to pierce your heart
A sweet, sweet wound
at the hands of your Master

Living Stone

Thank you Lord for allowing Peter to fail For times when my spirit is weak and frail Thank you Lord for fire warmed denial For times when I break down under trial Thank you Lord for Peter's fear, his guilt, and shame For I too have often carried those names Thank you Lord for his objection to your plans For times that I am a proud stubborn man Thank you Lord for a long night of emptiness In order that you overflow our nets Thank you my Lord, my Love, for a love reclaimed As you beckon my love again, again In all these failures, I see him, I see me And you respond with unfailing Mercy And if you still want him, you can still want me I can offer my life fully, freely For if he is the rock hewn for eternity Please Lord carve a living stone from me

Unleashed

Unleashed

And now fifty days since Salvation wrought
Heavenly Volley overflows their court.

Eleven bound in wood, fear, and doubt
Only Love can conjure the single way out.

Flame descends, incinerates what binds
Laps courage in timid heart, soul, and mind.

Like their Master they burst their tomb
Like their Master, their tomb a new womb.

Flames forge within; Love consumes all fear
The Good News molded to alien ear.

Heavenly arson hurled down to unite
One Bread, One Body, One Church, one CHRIST.

The fallen arise, Paradise within reach
Universe anew; Upper room unleashed.

Precious

Luke 15:11-32

In search of delight, I wandered away
Exchanged my inheritance for nothing at all.

Choking on filth, suffocating in sin
I drew one last breath, and dared venture home.

Upon my knees with pod stained cheeks
When from afar you beckoned me near.

You ringed me and robed me, welcomed me home
Cleansed and clutched me, claimed me your own.

With open side, you slay me forgiven
With tender gaze, you tended my wounds
With pierced hands, you slaked me Precious

Your Mercy; my treasure
Your Name; my inheritance
Your Word; my path
Your Kingdom; my home.

"This brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found."

Simple Soul

A simple soul desires simple things,
health, family, and favor from God.

A simple soul prays a simple prayer,
Thy will be done, with all its might.

A simple soul performs simple acts,
the task at hand, the duty of vocation.

A simple soul offers simple means,
an open mind, a heart to be stirred.

A simple soul follows the simple Way,
with a supple will, upon its knees
waiting to be moved.

A simple soul has a simple design,
thread with thanksgiving,
and patterned with praise,

A simple soul displays a simple trust,
like a child, in the Providence of God.

A simple soul
simply lives its life
simply gives its life
for the glory of God.

Look Deeper

Barnacled brows shutter
aged eye

Look deeper, look deeper
There's beauty inside

Addiction, disease
Abused, neglected

Look deeper, look deeper
There's beauty inside

Sub par IQ
Removed from view

Look deeper, look deeper
There's beauty inside

Scarred and marred
Disfigured, discarded

Look deeper, look deeper
There's beauty inside

From lightest to darkest
and all in between

Look deeper, look deeper
There's beauty inside

Every reflection
That's ever been seen

Look deeper, look deeper
There's beauty inside

The Image of God
living inside

Look deeper, look deeper
God's beauty inside

Conversion - the Holy Spirit

Punctures the mind with thorns of Truth, draws forth an inferno from a smoldering ember. Erupts a Kingdom from a mustard seed embraces abandonment upon its knees. Slices open your heart, reorients Truth, galvanizes purpose and awakens identity. It pierces your hands, straightens your feet engulfs your will, takes up its Cross. All so God may... Re-knit your soul in the Image of Glory and Torch your life with the Light of Christ.

Foundation

Foundation

Thank you, Lord, for allowing Peter to fail.

Thank you for the crow of denial
his crow of estrangement
my crow of betrayal.

Thank you for love reclaimed over breakfast on the shore.

For the love of fidelity
his love of friendship
my love of loyalty.

Thank you for transforming failure into foundation.

Coward shepherd no more!

Portent

Whisper to me
I can't hear you when you scream
rescue me
engulfed in that scream.

Whisper to me
like the portent of the Omnipotent
upon the still small breeze

calms the chaos, quells the cacophony
gently surrenders the ear.

Saving whisper, attune my ear to truth.
Giving whisper, poise my mind for beauty.
Merciful whisper, dispose my soul to goodness.

Because a whisper, oh, a whisper!

Anything worth giving
anything worth receiving

should be
born of
a whisper.
