Melvin D'lima Poem
A true angel removes your mask
Seems to be her task
Digs into your belief system some more
Asks how you gained your values, core
I am a creature of habits old
A product of my experiences untold
A book easily read
Raised on biases instead

Melvin D'lima Poem
Testing times for the masses
Testing surprises? wrong passes
Friends on paper turned foes
WHO was there and knows
Sellouts in for the kill
Digital tracking at the till
Liberties lost, the new normal
Curfew and lockdown now formal

Melvin D'lima Poem
I serve with my heart, all
Your mountain must not fall
We meet servant and master
To run forward the faster
Your goal clearly defined
Mine too more refined
Leader and follower united now
To testify of forgiveness, the how
Why this unlikely pair?
Cause of a God just and fair
I serve before kings
Who drink of your wisdom things
I was a vessel empty, then
Now filled with your ken
They drink it in very slowly
The cupbearer thought he was most lowly

Melvin D'lima Poem
A place to call home
A field in which to roam
A hundred and fifteen reasons
As many Christmas seasons
We are justifiably proud
To be one of the crowd
Come rain or sunshine
We are just fine
Under lockdown, our spirits soar
To toast each other, once more
As,our illustrious past Chairs, we praise
To Chairman, John, our glasses we raise

Melvin D'lima Poem
The exodus is on course
Homeward bound, full force
Christmas and New Year cheer
Of the pandemic, we have little fear
The well heeled among us, lead the pack
Who knows what they will take and bring back
Those who can, alone, stay home
Trying to preserve their human microbiome
Shades of post- war nineteen twenty
Soldiers brought Spanish influenza aplenty
Hit us hard, many died - we had no masks
Our Doctors and nurses this time, not at their tasks
Like then, we rush to send wishes true
To the political and CoVid millionaire crew
Next year, if we are here to tell the tale
Their fortunes will move further from the pale

Melvin D'lima Poem
It is raining on the Expressway to debt
A temporary snag; we will still pay
The Chinese supervisor steps off set
His local crew have little say
A temporary snag; we will still pay
Three, nay, four generations watch
Our great grandchildren pay, they may
Loans taken with interest at a higher notch
Our great-grandchildren pay, they may
A kick back there, a deal sweetener here
Not consulted? An argument which holds no sway
The Chinese have you in their grip, severe
We have our own cost consultants here
The Chinese have you in their grip, severe
Our representatives were well informed
The verdict : the loan signatories over performed

Melvin D'lima Poem
Just like that, they went
So full of life and hope
Suddenly, heaven sent
In their absence, will we cope?
This terrible viral reset
Crafted in some foreign land
Our hopes will definitely be unmet
As we lay our best, deep in the sand

Melvin D'lima Poem
Thoughts on our collective mind
Not just the dental kind
Give thanks for what you've got
Cry not for what you are not
We are here to serve you well
That you, may others tell
Smiles to make you proud
Smiles to help you stand out from the crowd

Melvin D'lima Poem
A brilliant sunny day
Though death holds sway
Life rolls on for the rest
Haven't yet, been put to the test
T'is dark before the dawn
The dew still rests on the lawn
Change is the new order given
Home stay or mask driven
The politicians retreat for a break
Tax collections thin as a rake
Bills piling ; loans to be paid
From where, the next commonwealth raid?
Is there order in this madness?
Explain to us ,all the sadness
This angst must go away soon
This Christmas we want to be over the moon

Melvin D'lima Poem
I look out into the scorching sun
The treeless expanse is no fun
An expressway they are making
Disinterest in pedestrians they're not faking
The dust blows right into your face
As soil laden dumpsters against time, race
I am waiting for the bill "we must all pay"
As the kick-back takers like to say
Without them we could not hope for this belt
Our unmet need the politicians really felt
Planners and surveyors studied the road less, travelled
As our debt burden out of control, unravelled
They are on site as we speak
Cheek by jowl with the hoi polloi meek
How many have nots will ascend to use this expressway?
How many generations of children for it will pay?
