THE TOILET
I visited the Toilet - A grand salubrious place
Of gleaming Glistening tiles - a really pristine place
A space to hold a Banquet - A conference of a ball
With tops of stalls and toilet doors - for those who like a fall
I know I rush-ed into it - what purpose, don't recall
For I slipped on Gleaming, Pristine tiles - and went smack into the wall
So, if you have a desperate need-go slowly if you will

Baa Baa Black Sheep
Corruption was pretty heavy
The wool market well controlled
Black sheep was a union contributor
That's the story, or so I am told
One bale was sent to the secretary
One bale, his wife on the side
It was better to grease the bosses palms
than see his business slide
One bale was sent to the delegate
The man who controlled the shop floor
His suppression on workers unrest and stuff
Allowed Blacks sales to soar
Money greases the wheels of Industry

Easter Thoughts 3
Easter's come and Easter's gone - My Jaws and Stomach's sore
And the word or sight of Chocolate - Doesn't excite me any more
Your eye's are bigger than your stomach - or so the saying goes
My shorts no longer fit me - and I cannot see my toes
Twenty types of Chocolate - And forty different brands
to lounge and pick-from amongst their midst
Does make you feel quite grand
The Poor, The Weak, The Lonely - The Sick and Elderly
Five class of Humankind I know - whose lives are Chocolate free
The time might come, when I might add - the Wonka to my name
Strawberry creams and Turkish delights - bring fortune and more fame
I've had my fill, I've had suffice - no bloody more for me
I'll take a rest, build up my strength - and get ready for the Xmas tree

COVID-19
Disaster, devastation, death and destiny
Headlines, slay us every day
Not since some time-past history
Were people stricken - this terrible way
Self-isolate and stay indoors
Restrictions with fines or time away
No longer can we feed our mores
But food and exercise, work is ok
It feels surreal, it's like a dream
Financial stuff, we handled well
Chook flu, SARS, MERS, seen and been
Covid-19, time will tell
Early, people reason slipped
Control and manners something past
Basic items scare or clipped
A moment there, then taken fast
Masks, gloves - social distance we make
Two in number is allowed
Border closures, states do make
Vaccine will find - government avows
Pain and hurt is spread worldwide
Striking elder, and also young
Doctors, careers, no place to hide
From bats in Asia, they say it sprung
It's early days and seems ok
But time to come, will tell
Hope is governed, by news each day
Life, by the toll of the bell

EASTER THOUGHTS 1
The time of Easter comes around
It means so many things
Of Christian Life and thoughts of God
And what the Bunnies bring
Young Children yet to understand
The lessons they are taught
anticipate the coming day
Of chocolate they were brought
We're told the stuff may not be good
For health and for our face
Though these out through the window go
as through the Easter eggs we race
Understanding comes, as we grow
Acknowledged or denied
More faith placed in the chocolate egg
Than the Son of God, who Died

COVID-19; EFFECTS
ROADS, ARE GENERALLY EMPTY
HIGHWAY,S AT HALF OF THEIR PACE
EFFECT ON COMMERCE, IS HEFTY
HOME, A PLACE AT LEAST SAFE
FEAR IN THE MIND, HAS A FOOTHOLD
IT IS SHOWN, BY THE BUYING OF MAN
SOME SHELVES ARE EMPTY, OF STOCK SOLD
TOILET PAPER, IT SITS IN THE VAN
REASON, 'PPEARS NOT TO SHOW REASON
THEN WHY, DOES THE BRAIN TURN THAT WAY
WHEN THE STOCK BUYS OF MAN, ARE NEAR LEGION
COULD THE PSYCHES HAVE THE CLUES, WELL THEY MAY
ONE WOULD THINK, IT'S THE PRIMAL OF MAN THAT IS SEEN
WHERE OF SURVIVAL, IT'S SELF AND THEIR OWN
IT WAS SELF AND MINE, BEFORE THE GROWING OF TEAM
AND INTO THE PRESENT THE PRIMAL DOES GROW
FEAR TAKEN ROOT, MUST GOVERN THEIR THOUGHTS
FOR THEIR PURCHASES COVER MUCH MORE
AND THE STORES HAVE STOMPED, ON THE ITEMS NOW BOUGHT
ONLY ONE OF EACH TYPE, THROUGH THE DOOR
ONE HOPES THAT SANITY, WILL COME BACK AGAIN
AS SOME HOUSES MUST BULGE, AT THE SEAMS
AND PEOPLE NOT WORKING, START FEELING THE STRAIN
STOP GOODWILL OF MANKIND, TURNING MEAN
WE'RE WEEKS IN NOW, SOME MONTHS TO COME
RESTRICTIONS FLOAT, THOUGH SOME DO IGNORE
SELF ISOLATE, HOME, CREATE YOUR OWN FUN
COP FINE OR GAOL, IF YOU FLOUT THE LAW
I'M SAFE FOR NOW, AND SO IS MY TRIBE
THE PRIMAL'S WORKING AND I FOLLOW IT TRUE
IS THERE SUCH A THING AS TEAM, I SCRIBE
THERE IS AN END TO THIS, AND WE'LL SEE IT THROUGH

The Contest
Enter the contest says Brian Strand
The form it does not matter
As long as I think it is not bland
Gives you a chance to natter.
What subject should I write about
What theme should it pursue
Times health, should it be paramount
Or those in the Virus grue
They say it's easy to strike a poem
Rhyme and reason's the key
Others of note, have been heard to groan
and from pages and pens they do flee
So, to the keyboard, I will travel
And will give it a bit of thought
wait the judgement of poet and gavel
and hopefully not done for naught.

EASTER THOUGHTS 2
FLOWERS, SHOWERS AND FLOPPY EARS - THE RODENT HAS COME TO TOWN
FROM EIGHTEEN MONTHS TO INFINITY - WE HASTEN THE TIME AROUND
LIVE OR STUFFED, WE DO NOT CARE - EACH TYPE HAS A SPECIAL FEEL
COMMERCIAL STORES DISPLAY THEIR WARES - SO, IT'S THE WRAPPER I WANT TO FEEL
WE ALL DON'T WAIT TILL SUNDAY - WE GUTS JUST WHEN WE LIKE
AT BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND DINNER - MORNING, DAY AND NIGHT
FROM YOUNGEST THROUGH TO OLDEST - SWEET TOOTH KILLS COMMONSENSE
FIT THOUGHTS AND DIETARY PROGRAMS - ARE LEFT SITTING ON THE FENCE
EASTER COMES AND EASTER GOES - AND THE EGGS THEY ARE NO MORE
THOUGH I'VE NOTICED HEAPS OF CHOCOLATE BLOCKS, IN THE SUPERMARKET STORES
