Varsha Viswanath Poem
They stood a test of time,
Yet glorified is this shrine,
Build around 700 AD with some submerged and some exposed..
Proudly does she overlook the Bay of Bengal,
As she remains as one of the oldest structural temple,
Who constantly keeps glorifying our ancient scripts,
From the tales of King Hiranyakashipu and his son Prahalada,
Maa Durga as Mahishasurmardini and Lord Shiva along with Nandhi, his mount.
Enshrined in a small rectangular shrine is Anantashayi Vishnu,
With the external walls filled with beautiful carvings of Krishna slaying Kesi,
And dancing over Kaliya and then being seated on his vehicle Garuda.
Mesmerizing is this sight,
When seen when the light is bright,
So make sure that you visit this place, Alright

Varsha Viswanath Poem
Every time I close my eyes,
I see you showering me with love from the skies.
Every time my heart beats,
I know it's because of you,
Cause I can feel that rhythm of music from your flute,
Which brings me closer to you through our secret route.
Every time I let myself loose,
As you can deduce,
All I can hear is your name humming in my ears,
And giving me the strength to let go of my fears.
The peacock feather that adorns you,
Fills me up with the colors of life that you threw.
Those java green and iridescent blue,
Seasoned my soul with goodness as I grew.
O Kanha,
You light me up in the dark,
And ignite my untamed heart with sparks.
You fill my cracks with laughter,
And forever will you be my drafter.

Varsha Viswanath Poem
We sat on that lone bench,
Watching the streams flow and the stars glow.
Nature was so calm and peaceful
Yet my nerves were running wild.
The breeze that blew was so soft and enduring
That it felt as if Cupid had just let go of that arrow from his bow.
The birds chirping was sweet
But every beat from his heart sounded even more sweet.
The moon and the stars were twinkling and shining bright
But for me,the spark in his eyes were even more captivating.
I glared at him with awe.
As our eyes got locked,I felt like our souls just merged to one.
We had such a monotonous lifestyle
And we hardly found time to hold each others hand and walk to the nearby cafeteria.
But for now, all I knew was...
It was us,just us...

Varsha Viswanath Poem
Spring or autumn, leaves bloom or fall,
Everything seemed to offer me immense happiness
As long as we stayed together.
Harshest of weather, extremes of cold
Still felt quite romantic
Because the warmth from him was better than that of a jacket.
Monsoons were our all time favorite.
It was during one such rain we had met
And ever since it had been our favorite.
Making hot chai together and sharing the same pakoras,
Singing and dancing without the umbrella in the rain used to be fun.
Playing football in the mud had a entirely different feel.
We never had the fear of catching cold interrupt us
Because the care and love we would get in return far surpassed everything else.
Unlike other days, I could feel my every breath tell his name
and the the wind that blew speak of our love.
It was his birthday!
I returned from office as soon as possible
to bake my special cake for him this time.
I had made his favorite Red velvet perfectly on time.
His car honk from the end of the street would tell me of his coming.
Rushed out with excitement only to see my nerves coil and heart bleed.
There was this truck that was over-speeding
And it was much evident that the driver had lost control over it.
My love, he was on his way back when both of them collided.
My heart skipped it's beat and I ultimately had to be the witness to see this tragedy.
The glass from the window broke and it pierced his skin.
He had hit the glass with soo much force and now his blood was on the road. For every drop of blood that fell, I could feel my heart getting broken
and myself becoming numb.
My body froze with my eyes fixed on him.
I wanted to be with him but my leg didn't cope up.
It had turned ice cold as I could see his face being disfigured
and blood being spilled.
I don't remember anything that happened next.
It was his last birthday ever!
The wind no more sang the story of us being together
But my heart knows that he will always live through me.

Varsha Viswanath Poem
Whenever she kept thinking of him,
She realised that he was becoming her day and night.
Ohoo! Don't call them lovebirds,
They were just the best of friends whose story seems to be incompatible.
Whenever she spoke, he would listen passionately.
For him, her voice was as sweet as that of Angel's.
All he wanted was her dreams to richly fulfil
And so, he regularly encouraged her except for his anger that ruined it at times.
Whenever his eyes sparkled like a star,
She would realise that he was far more excited.
And slowly a smile emerges in her face,
As she senses his heartbeats running fast.
She would giggle before he could even speak a word,
For she believed that she knew him better than most others.
Alas! She was more blinded by his presence,
That the daily changes in him went unnoticed.
Whenever his face turns pink out of anger,
She would stay beside him no matter what,
For her heart was pure and ready enough
To withstand every pain if felt.
Whenever he was frustrated, he would call her,
And she would be with him through thick and thin.
Together they would face the raging sea,
And all other powerful and profound controversies.
That fine day, he woke up to see the rainbow in the sky.
He wanted to embrace every moment,
For the dew on leaves and the new blossoms made him smile.
He tried to call her, but she didn't turn up.
When there is dawn, there would be dusk on the other side.
While he was rejoicing the morning vibes,
She was lamenting on the other side.
Her favourite cousin had just passed away.
Despite those continuous calls, she wasn't in a mood to answer.
Her heart is fragile now that she didn't want to risk herself.
He ain't gonna understand anything whenever his blood surges up in anger,
And the only way he responds would be by unfurling his wrath.
Finally, his anger broke all bounds, and he knocked her down.
Even when tears rolled her eyes,
She decided to stay and comfort him,
Despite her heart wanting to tell "Ek bar bas hame samajh liya hota.."

Varsha Viswanath Poem
With her water cold and clear,
She did reflect the sky above her,
So blue enough to tumble your heart to dance and cheer,
And to raise your spirits forever.
Through the mist, the Sun shines;
And with her warmth did the lush green grass grow,
Along with the blossoms that thrive along the vines,
Amidst those mountain snow.
The symbol of love resided in her waters.
Every time purity and elegance was marked,
As she floats in grace,
And makes her crystal water beauty charmed.
She could spread her radiance wide and far,
With her in-depth wisdom,
Of separating milk from water which was spread afar,
The Royal Swan built her own kingdom.
The mountains gently cradle
Her calm waters from both the sides,
As if it is filled with pride,
Even during the darkest of nights.
The ever waning light of the Moon,
Makes the surroundings glimmer more and more,
For Venus was up for her rule,
And to let the other flowers cherish their vividness of colors.
Enchanted am I by nature's beauty in various form,
Through Sun and the rain and the thunder storms.
Wondrous beauty shall never seize,
For the Lake has its own way to please.

Varsha Viswanath Poem
Cultural fests were about to start,
And all of us were asked to enroll in some form of art.
Soon on the noticeboard, they had put up a chart
On what was each ones part.
Mine was dance,
With which I always stood a chance.
Sessions began and our dance partners were chosen.
When I realized that he was also in my class,I felt as if my life got frozen.
Cause we had hardly spoken to each other,
And I wasn't sure if I had to treat him like my brother.
By the end of our first class, things ended up quite normal,
And we started being more informal.
Under the same roof,we had our dance,
And we were grooving in trance.
There was a step were he had to hold me as I turn,
For a moment,I felt that all my grief would burn.
That was an amazing start for the day,
Although my heart was longing for a stay.
Time fled and by now we knew each other,
And he turned out to be as loving and caring as my father.
After our late evening classes,we would walk on the streets together,
Admiring the outside weather,
And we would have ice-cream beside the bonfire,
While others would be playing their flute, harps and lyre.
Finally he confessed his love for me as we climbed up the stairs,
Overjoyed on hearing it, I felt as if all my make-up would be removed by this joyful tears.
The scent of rose was nothing in front of his white shirt, which smelled like a bunch of jasmine flowers,
Cause for now, it wasn't just the stage but the whole world seemed to be just ours.
For every beat I moved gracefully my hip,
And he ended the dance with a beautiful kiss on my lip.

Varsha Viswanath Poem
It was unusually dark and calm,
She could feel the chillness of the breeze,
But her heart knew that this wind might unfold to her something which would not be as sweet as she thinks;
Little did she know that someone was dying on the other side,
Little did she know that it was her own little brother who was trying to end his life,
For even the mirror seemed to look like a stranger for him;
Little did she know about his dark days and sleepless nights,
Little did she know about those grumpy mornings and his cold silent isolation,
In which he was drowning himself with pain;
Little did she know that he was being engulfed with mental strain,
Little did she know that he was screaming even in his dreams,
For he was soaked and held captive by his own chains;
Little did she know that he was in a battlefield fighting against himself,
Little did she know that he had tried molding armors from the suffering he had gone through,
Alas! The pain were too high that his heart kept bleeding..
Little did she know that his hopes were dwindling,
Little did she know that all he needed was someone who would understand him,
Than the one who would taunt him for his flaws;
It was tremendously cold all of a sudden and so she fastened her steps;
The moon was shinning in glittering white while his wrists were stained in red.
Shattered was he beyond measures
And his mask of smile began to tear;
.
.
.
"Are you okay,Dear?"
"Yeah" he said after hiding his bruises and scars!

Varsha Viswanath Poem
Dancing with full of grace,
She led them to trance.
With her beautiful smile,
She enchanted them with her style.
She looked brighter than a star,
And so her name was spread afar.
For each beat,did they sing,
As delighted as the ones for the new blooming Spring.
The one like her was soo rare,
For it was Mohini herself who was there.
Deceived the Asuras with her elegance,
She did the end for Bhasmasurs's arrogance,
And then the world rejoiced with euphoria...

Varsha Viswanath Poem
She was a no ordinary girl,
Filled with zeal and enthusiasm was her soul.
Craving for new adventures each day,
She started to grow .
Elevated was her spirit,
With the thoughts of climbing every mountain and crossing every stream,
And for it, she kept the fire burning from within,
And no more did she let the thoughts of being judged confine her.
No more bounds and confinement, she decided.
For she knew that she had the blood of a true warrior,
Who had the strength to burn all the odds to dust,
With just the sparks of her eyes.
No more shall she kneel in front of others,
For now she started gathering the strength and wisdom to heal.
Her voice was powerful yet she didn't use it to break the silence,
Cause now her silence was more than enough to kill it.
She believed that goodness was a miracle creator,
And not only did she have the sweetest behavior ,
But also she tamed her heart to be open and fearless.
And hence, her divine purity began to glow by her endlessly loving passion.
Yes, she was strong because she never wanted to let go.
There were days when she was drowned in tears.
There were days when she hid herself from the world,in order not to be judged.
But why fear this society, when you already know that they aren't going to ever shut their mouths.
With such an extraordinary soul to truly embrace,
She painted all her scars to inner strength.
And in spite of complications, she let wisdom draw the sword of her life.
After all,she wasn't just an ordinary girl !
