A Rhyme With Reason

What’s the reason for the season
     What’s a rhyme without a reason
Celebrate calibrate nothing like it does equate
Jesus Christ was born today in a manger far away
He was born for me and died for you
     Jigsaw puzzle He’s the glue
Who gave sight to the blind
Who will be the one left behind

Hallelujah hallelujah the newborn king

Why was HE born today
Will your mind run a astray
Have you found your destiny
     Will you live eternally
Food for thought while you eat
Where does Publix get their meat
A little seed will feed the world
How’s an oyster make a pearl

Hallelujah hallelujah the newborn king

Pray for one pray for all
Pray for the big earth ball
Today’s the day to unite
Love your neighbor do what’s right
Now fill your chalice and raise a toast
Thank the father son and Holy Ghost
What’s it take to save the world
    Keep shucking oysters
            til you find your pearl!

(Chorus)
Thank you lord for the newborn king
Thank you lord for our destiny
Thank you lord from the bottom of our heart
Thank you lord for the brand new start

Thanks again for the newborn KING!!!

Covid-Nineteen In Twenty-Twenty

Everyone's quarantined, I'm out of Thorazine
Stuck in the house, me and my spouse

When we woke up today, no lights on Broadway
It was shut down, my New York town

Stores out of toilet paper, stuck in a skyscraper
For fifteen days, stay six feet away

Cat five hurricanes, I'm wrapped in cellophane
My poor brain, climate change

Wildfires and earthquakes, HE's saying pump the brakes
Greenhouse effect, did you forget

In a few hundred years, destroyed the land of HIS
We abused it, face the music

Two weeks no pollution, its just been proven
The sky is clear, in this leap year

Living off the land, helping your fellow man
The way it should be, hoarding's so ugly

Everyone come together, be a good neighbor
It's not about you, this; the preview

Modern day test of time, not about your mighty dime
COVID-Nineteen, pray for a vaccine!

Stumble and Fall

Bluebird Cafe off of music row and all they ever told him was no no and no
He was outta time and outta dough cause they never played his songs on the radio
Then and there he kneeled to pray and these are the words he heard that day

We may stumble and we may fall knew today’d be the day you'd call
We may stumble and we may fall write about Peter Pilate and Paul

Now don't worry son take my hand and I'll lead you to the promised land
Get your verse from the scripture make it vivid so they get the picture
Paint 'em rainbows and the clear blue skies fire and brimstone from the lightning strikes
Heaven's streets are paved with gold Hell is hotter than the sun tenfold

We may stumble and we may fall illustrate that big fireball
We may stumble and we may fall don't cost a dime to make this call

The crown of thorns were on my head just so you could have a comfy bed
They pounded the nails in my feet here's the scar would you like to see it
I'll be back in a purple robe to pass judgment across the globe
Bring to life my Holy Spirit crank it up so they can hear it

We may stumble and we may fall listen to the words of apostle Paul
We may stumble and we may fall watch out for that summer squall

All the hearts of woman and man were formulated from my master plan
The devil gets in when you drop your guard so pass along my business card
Think of me day and night and I'll be here to fight the fight
The groundwork's down for you to walk the walk so consider this our little talk

We may stumble and we may fall you won't walk until you crawl
We may stumble and we may fall I'll show up whenever you call

All the goose bumps and the standing hair how in the world did they get there
I can send a chill up and down your spine or appear as a vision to convince your mind
Life is not a perfect painting so get off your knees the world's awaiting

We may stumble and we may fall I'm the judge jury and all
We may stumble and we may fall there's your answer so get on the ball
We may stumble and we may fall turn it up and tell em all!

Reconsider Suicide

He was worth more dead than alive
Told himself they’d survive
He didn’t think it was sin
To violate one of the Top Ten
Thou shalt not kill included himself
It was in the dusty Bible there on the shelf
With an empty heart and lost soul
Life had become out of control
Last ditch effort to ease the pain
He put a bullet in his brain
Now his heart doesn’t beat
But his spirit feels the heat

Envision continuous raging fires
Feel the smoke burn your eyes
Smoldering sulphur in your nose
Flaming furnace without a hose
Before you pull the trigger or ring the bell
Imagine an eternity spent in HELL

When the light looks dim at the end on the tunnel
GOD is the one to get you out of trouble!!!

Vapor Danger

Heard of popcorn lung
 or maybe vapor's tongue
You'd be remiss
if you don't Google this
Children don't watch the news
if we don't warn them is it child abuse
Tough love's a thing of the past
all the victims, though, learned fast

Here's the pun
What a home-run
for nicotine gum

Sw Fl Proud Hurricane Ian Recovery

Southwest Florida strong
It’s been this way all along
Coming together to help our neighbor
Always on our best behavior
In this time of need
This is what the world will see
An army of angels doing their thing
It’s amazing what emerged from the rain
It’s how I picture heaven… without the damage
If this were our future could you imagine
A world about others not about ourself
It’s in the Bible sitting on the shelf
We will rebuild and will survive
By the grace of God we are alive
Those that went before
They know what’s in store
A beautiful paradise
Designed by the Lord

Hidden Secrets

If there’s scars on your heart from the times it’s been broken
Write it down to get it out
Nary a word need be spoken
Cheapest therapy known to man
Burn it up in a metal can
Hidden secrets up in the smoke
Ahhhh! The emotion it evokes

Heavens Prayer

Fighting off the devil in my mind
Seems to take up all my free time
I have the freedom to do as I please
Lord oh lord have mercy on me
Keep me focused on the task at hand
Lead me to the promised land
You know my heart so control my mind
Help me be what you designed
Don’t let the devil get ahold of me
Protect me from my enemy
Shield me from the doubt
It is in your name I shout

Save me protect me guide me through
It is only heaven that I pursue!

Simple Days

He was born in the Georgia clay
 drank sweet tea everyday
It was rise and shine at the crack of dawn
as the rooster sang his song
Milk the cows and bale the hay
    buttermilk was on the way
Fetch the eggs from the coop
  look at that chicken poop
Tend the garden and shell the peas
on the porch, feel the breeze
he butter, wring the bird
headless chicken, have you heard
Pressure cooker’s blowing steam
it's taboo to touch that thing
Canning veggies was the norm
no TV in a storm
Dry the apples for the pies
slice the taters for the fries
Work all day till the sun went down
then pass the moonshine around
Kids today can't relate
think they'd ever pull their weight
Take their phones and watch them moan
think they've had home-grown
Simple days, baling hay
catching chickens is how they played
Once a week they would all get together
that of course depended on the weather

Today Not Tomorrow

Riding in the limo that day
we questioned why it ended that way
He was the next rising star
in a box in the next car
Lost touch over the years
occasionally we'd grab a beer
Always claimed all was fine
just found out he spent his last dime
In the needle is where it went
every nickel every cent
Back against the wall with no way to escape
could a phone call changed the landscape
Put yourself in the backseat
imagine your loved one six feet deep

Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow
learn from others sorrows
