The Mind Ill At Ease

The mind ill at ease

What inspires, what moves what gives cause for distress?
The longings and the ache of the mind ill at ease,
wrapped in a frenzy of desperate loneliness.

Acceptance will give freedom though one never stops asking why
Why must I relinquish these feelings from my being?

They are not bitter nor angry but strong and true
Rising to the surface of thy conscious mind.
But their fate is to be smothered, gradually, slowly.

In their struggle for safe haven they have sought refuge in life’s chores
and pursuit of knowledge.
Occasions are rare when they flood out in front of the unsuspecting, uncaring minds, only to be rebuked.

Oh, where can they lie? so unprotected, so vulnerable but full of hope.
Hope to be rescued by the heart and mind that gave them life.
Those eyes that waver but do not rest, wild and daring
But what is there but a heart that beats for another soul

Yet inspiration is mine
To curse the doubt and strengthen the belief that all is not lost
Those eyes still waver, no truth do they tell.
Love’s light still shines.
