The Rising Spirit

First steps on crisp new snow,
Flakes dancing with sparkle and glow,
Vibrations rising from the toes,
Through the body to the soul.
Snow clad trees, strength they lend,
To the weight as they bend,
Creating tunnels, spectacular view,
Over untreaded paths, guiding you.
To the perfect place,in perfect time,
To witness connections that do bind.
On a bridge in Fish Creek Park,
That is where the magic did start,
Angels music, watch in awe,
Geese and ducks heard the call.
Swimming over to hear and see,
Electricity washed over me,
Made a wish, true to my spirit,
Retrieved a coin and I threw it,
Fell some ways before it hit,
In that moment I felt a shift,
Ripple effect, larger than the river,
Touching everything, I just shivered.
Heart and soul open wide,
Saw it all through different eyes,
When the trance broke it's hold,
Appeared an eagle, grand and bold,
Right above,he turned his head,
Follow me I felt he said,
Ensuing the trails the trees created,
All the way the feeling never faded,
With slight urgency, I walked with haste,
To be guided to the water's base,
There he was perched high and proud,
In the tallest tree, not too far down,
Paused a moment to appreciate this gift,
In my eye a little mist.
I was urged to return to the bridge,
And look to the trees along the ridge,
In the direction where he sat,
The splendid spirit was coming back,
Flew above my head again,
Can't believe it to myself I said,
As he passed he gave a wink,
All I could do is breathe and blink,
As I did I feared him gone,
Moments like this don't last too long,
But there he was in a westward tree,
He waited to say goodbye to me,
And with that he soared real high
Nudging me to rise and fly.
