The Last Dance of Romeo and His Juliet

the moon lights our early demise,
close your eyes for loves lost dream,
leave my rose the thorns deceive me,
for even a prick it bleeds for she,

portraits painted of my heart beating,
Eros burns me with her flame,
sold my soul to the Virgin Mary,
held in my hands eternal pain.

Forgive me lord for times of treason,
she is my sun, my mist, my snow, my rain,
the last dance with my juliet,
a rose by any other name,

Who Stole the Sun?

As a sense of contentment feels like prevailing,
heroes hide in the shadows because this world doesnt need saving,
self pity is the only thing that makes us feel alive.

now the newspapers tell us not to go outside,
but i will not hide my face in the palm of my hands,
cover my ears from the sound of the slow marching band
retreat behind the wall of mediocrity
and watch as the sun goes down on what we now call yesterday,

instead i'll follow your footsteps up a path i dont know,
wipe my feet on the doormat and call this place home,
deliver three immortal words,
and pray that you send them back in return,
now is no time to be afraid.

Tomorrow Was Just a Day Ahead of Us

if the clouds cast shadows over doubts in your mind,
and you find that place in your head where your secrets are spoken aloud,
if love and misery finally separate their ugly heads,
put this fairytale to bed and pull the covers over our pasts,
let happiness shine through the gap in the window,
and cover our memories in every emotion we miss,
when silence is no longer a virtue but a promise to never speak of what came before,
and locked draws hold on tight to everything within.
if heaven and hell collide and leave us picking up the pieces
and noah leaves us stranded as the tide comes rushing in,
I will hold you close and whisper 'romance never dies',
wipe the tears from your eyes and share one last sweet kiss,
take our bow leave the stage and draw the curtain on suburbias last real shot at hope,
the gutter holds our memories, fears and stories all scribbled out on a post it note.
