Joshua Aaron Santiago Poem
Sitting on the Field
Lights come up on stage
All we have is time
I don’t mind the wait
I looked at you
And you looked at me
I do know why
I found you
I wonder how
You found me too
So baby don’t tell me
Just give me your hand please
And let’s watch the show, Ma
And please understand me
The chronic we blazing
Straight to our prefrontal cortex its racing
Now all my thoughts are spacing
All I see is you
Bracketed time eclipses the scene
Upon a river of notes
My love like a beam
Please pinch me, my dear
I hope this is no dream

Joshua Aaron Santiago Poem
Doubly twisted
Hating thine existence
tremors of a neurotic hand
Violent and bitter
Consumed by Ashen sands
Like the phoenix
I’m reborn
Rebranded
Undoubtedly divine
My wings transform to arms
My beak into lips
I walk amongst the giants of the land
Hands stretch outwards towards yours
Like a Superman in Clark Kent’s clothes
Impervious to all of those
Naysayers
Doubters
Haters
The symphony in my mind
Plays a single tune
A song for you
An epic poem
Written in blood and tears
trees of Agave
fire of fronto leaves
Harmonious souls
Drenched in sun beams
Naked and alone
Devoid of fear or apprehension
Sliding through the worm holes
Oblivious to space and time
tears of my heart
Bleed perpetually
A wound without an end
An infinite unfinished symphony

Joshua Aaron Santiago Poem
37th Floor
Shiodome City Center
The Japanese Secretaries
Stand in unison
Upon my arrival
All for me
You shouldn’t have
But thank you
180 degree view of Tokyo
900 square miles
10 Million people
All walking in unison
To a tune I don’t understand
I will never understand
I stick out
Like blood on a white table cloth
Like a fly in a bowl of Miso
208 lbs of flesh
Meat and bone
MIAMI to Tokyo is 7500 miles
18 hours total flight time
Many tens of thousands will be spent
I will avoid rice
But by the end of the trip
I’ll be eating it by the handful
The Japanese business men surround me
All dressed the same
Blue blazer
Blue or white shirt
Loose tie
Round glasses
No identity
I’m in my Aviators
Dragons on my sleeve
Brown as from last weekend
A 3 day frat party
Vodka and Gatorade my libation
Judging bikini contests
Near the FLORIDA - Bama line
Now gazing into the
Deep blue waters of Tokyo Bay
The curvilinear slopes
Of the Rainbow Bridge
Remind me of her jaw line
The random gracefulness
Of the waves
Remind me of her gesticulations
Warm with desire
I plunge into the abyss
Hoping I’m buoyant
Transfixed on its dark coolness
Sliding into the breaks
Gasping for air
Serves no purpose
I’ve grown gills
Webbed toes
I call this home now
My motherland
For which I never knew
And can never un-know
Squatters’ rights do not
Exist in Maritime law
So slowly I sink
With a plastered smile
Flag in my hand
Searching for a sea floor
Which may not exist at all

Joshua Aaron Santiago Poem
My Queen passes by the crowd
Yet no one sees her crown
She tucks it in her Curly hair
Unless no one’s around
It’s bejeweled with Diamonds, Pearls, and Emeralds
Pirate treasures from the deep
And underneath the crystal crown
Rests the face of the one unique
When I see her strolling through the streets
With a rapid sort of bop
I fling myself unto my knees
As if this Creature is a shock
Upon my knees forever I shall stay
Paying homage to her frame
For she is the one whom cannot be known
Yet I love her just the same

Joshua Aaron Santiago Poem
Lavender tinted
Two serpents of the sea
Chafing scales
Twisting through
Kuroshio Currents
Prancing Minions
Sirens of the deep
Bathing in rosen lilac
l'écume de mer
Frothing on the Horizon
Silken Goddesses
Submerged in Epsom salinity
Artfully teasing
Envisioning
A Better Tomorrow

Joshua Aaron Santiago Poem
I wake up every morning
Smile cemented to my face
Yet as always it evaporates
When I realize I am awake
Then I take my pills and brush my teeth
Applying cleanser to my face
Glancing in the mirror
Seeing nothing but vacant space
Eyes perpetually tired from the night before
The anticipation, keeps me awake
For I know I will see you soon
In that languid garden, we call our secret place
Where the champagne flows like Rivers
in the heart of Utter Pradesh
And the oysters dance upon our feet
Vying for their chance
And the Acrid smoke of Fronto Leaves
Are smoke signals to enchant
For you and I my love,
Naked and alone on this barren beach we’ll prance
Moonlight our source of incandescence
Your pheromones imbibe me like strong drink
Take my hand and lock eyes with mine
Allow me to survey your face unique
A face to launch a million vessels
That face that makes me weep
A face that a man can only charter
Yet can never own complete
A face so perfectly shaped
Its creator executed for its design
A face that has stolen my heart
A face for which I will forever pine
The rainbows in our world shimmer neon
As I lean to kiss your flawless face
Engulfed by my love’s embrace
Down the Rabbit Hole I’m chased

Joshua Aaron Santiago Poem
At first it was just a drop
A tear from the heavens
Then two drops
Then more
Within months
the showers grew
To be a monsoon
Until the runoff
turned into a roaring river
Carving an endless canyon
across the porous surface of my soul

Joshua Aaron Santiago Poem
Close your eyes
For the sands will soon consume us
On a beach Barren
Accompanied solely by
The waves Kissing the sand
Of an infinite Plutonian Shore
Together we Solipsize the world
For all else is nothing
Simply Nevermore
The Jazz dances in the breeze
Through the ear canal
Past the Temporal lobe
Making home in our souls
And the stars line up in patterns
Swarming like organized bees
Hypnotizing us
Enchanting us
Until we are swallowed by the seas

Joshua Aaron Santiago Poem
The dimples on your cheeks
Like matching enclaves
On opposing sides
Of a massive, naturally formed
Rock formation in Arizona
Those Dimples are my home
I can spend endless hours
Tracing the cliffs
Tracing the walls
I sleep here as well
I am just a small pest
Just the right size
For those dimples are also my bed
I sit in them like a recliner
Positioned like a cursive J
To the corner of your mouth
I drink the water from your lips
While I await the first droplet of coffee
From then on, I spend my day
Exploring the formations of your mouth
Bare hand climbing up your lower bicuspids
Base jumping down to your soft pallet
Bathing in the salivary geysers under your tongue
In the evening, I return to your dimples
There is nothing like home
I use a stray strand of hair as my rope
I settle into the corner
Without a blanket
The fire burning in my heart
Keeps me warm through
The Cold desert night

I feel no pleasure
I feel no pain
All I feel is you
Dancing salsa through my veins
