Marnie Portland Johnson Poem
Every sound
Every breath
Every flicker
Every flutter
Every tear to come
I could unravel for you
Not one step
Or ache
Or choice
Or fear
Or desire
I wouldn’t unravel for you
The shade of your eyes, the crease of your skin as you talk yourself out of what I am talking you into is not going to work, is not going to happen, you look, you are, you have become
But you choose your own boat
And I watch you offshore
Away
From it all
All
Away

Marnie Portland Johnson Poem
The day in the city park
With the ice-cream
So delicious
And frosty
Around and around
Delighting
Savoring
Dripping down
On the grass
It fell
Off

Marnie Portland Johnson Poem
Phrases rolled like salt from the ocean
A warm fine sand set it all in motion
Our laughter rang through glasses and clatter
After all, would any of it matter?
Magic moments in the sand
Gave way to gentle touches of your hand
Lots of stories to be told
In between the kisses that you stole!
The sun began to set its course
Through all of this, we maintained our force
There would be no more to do than frown
For soon I realized, you’d be not around
So suddenly when blueness pierced the sky
It was one moment I needed just to sigh
Into your gaze and the shifting tide
I now knew I could abide
