There's a Shepherd At My Feet

There's a shepherd at my feet
And usually she's fast asleep.
Her eyes will open if I move
Because her love for me is deep.

My love for her I need to prove,
Fill her belly up with food,
Water in a bowl to drink,
Fields to run with skies of blue.

One day she'll go away, I think.
The pain will cause my heart to sink,
But I'll be glad I got to hear
Her little tags clack and clink.

To love and lose is the fear,
So I'll keep this shepherd near,
And prove my love for her is dear,
And prove my love for her is dear.

Poppy's Moon

Every so often the world weighs me down
And I'll get a message from those not around.
Some call them signs, others say spirit.
Most can be seen, sometimes you hear it.

Like coyotes yipping on a cold starry night
Or that mad little cardinal picking a fight
With the reflection it sees in an old broken mirror,
They're telling me things that cannot be clearer.

There's one that stands out, no real surprise.
When the sun's going down, it starts to rise
Low in the East then moves up above,
It's got many names, but there's one that I love.

Flower and Harvest, Wolf or just Full,
I call it Poppy's; it's bold as a bull.
It comes from a man, his daughter's my wife
And he's making sure we appreciate life.

He's telling my children he'll always be here.
He can light up the night, there's nothing to fear.

He's telling my wife there's no need to cry.
He knows when she needs him, he'll shine in the sky.

Last, he tells me, boy shake off your gloom.
Be there for your family, just like the Moon.

What You Need

What?
What do you need?
Do you need redemption?
That's given by me.

In need of salvation?
That takes some work.
Life ever after,
It's one of the perks.

Knowledge and wisdom,
They come in due time.
Kindness and love,
But are they divine?

What you need is faith.
It's always been so.
It leads you to heaven
And one day you'll know.
