Jeff Underwood Poem
What happens when the great men of old are all turned to stone with no voice to hear;
when their worried plight and trouble fight, we no longer care to bear?
With their deeds of past and memories cast, in silent tomes laid for none to read;
Have we left our speckled souls, weak with woes for the wolves to feed?
Was not their image cast for more to last than park or monument to decorate?
Or are we deceived that we ever believed their precious cost tied to our fate?
Awaken quiet liberty and freewill, rouse We the People, I fear you lulled to sleep.
And in all your days find the ways to bring their memory to us to keep.
