Christopher Rowland Poem
"As the sky melts to reveal a slivered moon,
My own reflection will begin soon
To critique my day,
In an objective way
As to whether my reveal,
Had a satisfactory appeal
To bring me comfort and contentment,
On my journey and regiment
That I am one step closer to my goal,
To achieve all that my heart holds
We are never really complete,
So we search everyday to repeat
Our quest to find our happiness,
With God above as our witness
So may sleep bring you peace of mind,
To know that your search is going just fine"

Christopher Rowland Poem
"Words are just letters,
Pasted together
Their individual sound makes no sense
But formed together they are heaven sent
Giving each letter a voice,
It’s message our choice
As we chose letters to fit,
To form the words of our script
Expressing what is in us,
Framing moments we can trust
To explain feelings within,
And to know where to begin
Today or tomorrow,
Be it joy or sorrows
Picking letters that explain,
Feelings of happiness or pain
Understanding that the “u” and “I”,
Always determines the “why”
Of moments and events,
That each day presents."

Christopher Rowland Poem
"The value of friends,
And those which we depend
Is exponential in its meaning,
Based on the compassion we are seeking
Good friends, true friends
College friends, family friends
The weekend friend collection,
For its activity based connection
The, “I know them”, friend fringe,
And those we “know” and cringe
There are best friends we count,
And of those a few are paramount
For they accept us for our flaws,
Our conversations never have a pregnant pause
They never have to be asked,
For they volunteer for every task
There are no condescending judgements passed,
Maybe a few questions about our past
But total trust without remorse,
As we travel life’s uncertain course
So be thankful for those set apart,
Because true friends belong in your heart"

Christopher Rowland Poem
"Another morning has arrived,
Your heart beating....alive
So thankful for another day,
And to Him, God you pray
For wonder and beauty,
Surrounding thee
In all that abounds,
Even from the quietest sound
Gratitude and happiness,
From all that you’ve been blessed
Wisdom to choose the right path,
Happiness for a relaxing bubble bath
Sincerity in what you believe,
Confidence in the relationships you weave
Emotions abundant and under control,
Compassion to make you whole
For today is the first day of the rest of your life,
And only you can make it right"

Christopher Rowland Poem
"The sweetness of summer,
Blooms from the darkness of winter
Plants pulled from the earth,
By the sun, proving it’s worth
Life flows,
Bees sow
Pollinating the gifts we receive,
From plants and trees
A bounty of goodness, juicy and sweet,
Amazed by nature and this feat
Year after year, the cycle of life,
Each summer bearing fruits just right
That sustain us by marking time,
Creating memories divine
Of that perfect peach,
The best one just out of reach
Each berry better than the next,
Blackberry is my favorite, I confess
It’s berry defended by gnarly thorns,
Providing scratches to adorn
My arms and hands,
Payment that the canes demand
So to in life’s conceal,
Our efforts are revealed
Bruises and bumps,
Or the occasional lump
From trying our best,
No matter how difficult the test
But there is satisfaction in your reward,
So the abrasions are ignored
With the fruit of our labor,
And its success we savor"

Christopher Rowland Poem
"Water is the gift of life,
That makes things grow just right
So full of energy and power,
Providing light to every home and tower
By itself it can cleanse,
Dirt or an original sin
Sometimes we find ourselves in hot water,
By creating some kind of bother
Occasionally we are on thin ice,
For behavior not so nice
I prefer smooth still water,
Like a heartfelt moment that matters
Or a misty rain that falls,
Beaconing me with its call
To witness the nourishment it brings,
To every plant, tree or living thing
Including me ,
With a buoyancy
That keeps my head above water,
And a confidence I won’t falter
Because the water in the river accepts,
My burdens without regret
Floating them away,
So I am free, today"

Christopher Rowland Poem
"Can you consider emotions,
As a possession
Like shoes or a coat,
Bike or a boat
Can we claim what we cannot see,
I’m sorry you just have to believe
Some emotions however we can see,
Like those exposed on your shirt sleeve
Happy, sad, perturbed or irritated,
The end of something you initiated
Can we accrue emotions like cash,
Impressing friends with our stash
Or are they kept in the back of our closet,
Susceptible to forget
Their feelings intent,
In hindsight’s lament
Emotions are not tactile,
But they make hearts fragile
You can sense their loss,
If you’ve ever been double crossed
Or invested them too much,
Elsewhere and lost touch
Best to keep them stable,
Recognizing if you are able
Emotions can’t be held very tight,
For they need to take flight
Unencumbered with arms wide open,
No truer words have been spoken
For emotions need to be free to run the gamut,
Understanding that’s life and it’s gambit"

Christopher Rowland Poem
"If I asked, “what resonates in you”,
What would you chose
Is it a time and place that made its mark,
Pulling you up when all seemed dark
Is it faith that provides,
That feeling inside
Or is it the compassionate view,
Of those misfortunate that imbue you
Is it a symbol or a sign,
Or it’s meaning behind
The power they represent,
Earthy or heaven sent
Is it family or friends,
That resonates within
What gives you strength,
To go the length
Each day,
Everyday
Is it love of self,
Beyond all else
That lies within,
From each moment we begin
Like a reservoir inside,
Gifted to whom we decide
Reciprocal feelings to be matched,
Beyond family we attach
Energized by the spark,
That lights our vulnerable heart
So I ask you,
What resonates in you....."

Christopher Rowland Poem
"Events mark the passage of time,
Just as seven days of the week are mine
Weeks turn into months,
Then into years to numerous to count
But define us by age,
A theoretical gauge
For it is only a number to report,
When mind and body have rapport
Curious when told to act your age,
Young or old, maturity must be obeyed
As if to confine,
Enthusiasm that is mine
To be better behaved,
Only makes me depraved
To embrace outside my box,
And ignore others who think I ought not
My ambition is not whimsy,
I just refuse to be sedentary
For I am up to the challenge or task,
As long as my body will last
In touch with the “youngness” of my heart,
To scale any and all life’s rampart’s
Acting as I can,
Being who I am
For what my mind sees of me,
That is what I believe"

Christopher Rowland Poem
"A robins warble wakes me,
To a day I have yet to see
For it is dark at dawn,
But anticipation spawns
As the sun is pulled from the ground,
Announced by Mr. Robins sweet song
That today is going to be good,
With all equations understood
Without confrontations,
Only positive salutations
Opportunity is in front of me,
So to confidence to succeed
Believing that all will be good,
With reason that it should
For I am so deserving,
In this world I am serving
Because I am always at my best,
No matter how difficult God’s test"
