The Ugly Goldfish

The Ugly Goldfish

Beauty they say lies in the eyes of the beholder
So in a nut shell beauty may not exactly be seen as the impressive appearance one finds looking back at the mirror
but a power to be wielded by the beholder
Friday suffers from emotional isolation because of his albinism, but what I see is a Brain box containing delicate parts of an egghead
Lydia believes her bouts of epilepsy cripples her chances of finding a mate, but she forgets that her warm empathetic heart reminds me of mother's bosom
Chika sees her fire scared face in the mirror and hears 'monster' in her head but forgets about all she stands for, a compassionate maiden with 'balls' enough to break into an inferno for the sake of an infant's cry
"Dorcas is as old as the moon ",she would joke to herself, but forget how typical she is of a rare quality, long suffering.
"Tunde suffers from down syndrome", we hear, but forgets his efforts to live a normal life in a world requiring him to shoot for the stars, a feat none has literally accomplished.
Our world is filled with a bunch of uglies, they are however not those with disabilities
They are those with hearts, but fail to identify the strength in our extraordinary neighbours, those with special needs.
