Alone

I too have been alone
A pain so real like broken bones
Time spent pondering
About self worth
Sad unnoticed
On this earth
Solidarity is a trap
 I pushed away
Found comfort in poison and unhealthy play
Who needs a friend
 When wanting to die
Comforting shoulder
Waiting to cry
We leave this world
 One soul at a time
No need for company
That is a crime

Poets Muse

The poets muse
Is a whispered lie
Grains of sand
Fragments of time
Lingering love
Fateful kiss
Love once true
Soon will be missed
This tattered heart bleeds
Broken it's torn
From woman's anger
To hatreds scorn
One mindful moment
An empty soul
The part that's played
A walk-on role
Love once showered
Now lies in wait
Held in silence
For no one to take

The Race

Downhill dart
In a hard rain
Brakes squeeling loudly
Yielding no refrain
No line to start
Only a race to begin
Staring at death
Not expecting to win
Trophy worth taking
The poles are level
Showing no fear
Mimicking the devil
Pall Mall blazing
Fumes fade fast
Confidence fading
This feeling won't last
Chasing destiny
Life can be a hairpin turn
Reasons written in books
On pages that were burned
Champion to the moment
Clinching the wheel
Finish line in sight
Seems so unreal
Stories soon forgotten
As quickly as they're told
Dead end ahead
Race for the gold
Living in infamy
Instead of breaking just bend
Ride off into the sunset
Disappear in the end

Unsilenced Silence

Fan spinning with an uneven blade
Frogs singing midnight serenades
Traffic stopping horns blowing
Drunks stagger
A man yells
Watch where your going
Horns playing jazz upbeat and in time
Smokers chit chatting on balconies with wine
The steel mill whistle sounds in the air
Pub screams loudly drinking on a dare
Coltrane plays on an old 45
Crackling and hissing aged perfect with time
Wind blowing across the old chimney pipe
Sink dripping not plumbed just right
TV just static
Pidgeons rustling in the attic
Once the city dies down
It reminds me it doesn't sleep
As the alarm clock sounds
I rise to my feet
A new day the same city
I hurry toward the door
Unsilenced silence greets me with a roar

Free

Tear drops reflecting a setting sun
The steam tip barrel a loaded gun
Forbidden fruit eaten by the divine
Grapes of wrath from vine to wine
The wise thirst for knowledge
The fool only time
Wasted thinking of riches
Watching hands of time
Measuring Gods motions
Plays tricks on the mind
Struggling soul starved to the core
Torn to tethers
The world screaming more more more
One breath
One taste
One last embrace
Things that are cherished in life's big race
Stop running
Stop counting
Stop toiling infinitys woes
Why hold a soul in
That's ready to go

Falling

First of Fall
Moonlit drive
First of all
Still alive
First to fall
I survived
Fell to pieces
Cast aside
Fell apart
Failed to die
Fell for Love
Cupids lie
Fall forward
Fall behind
Fall forever
Love is blind
Fall for you
Fall this time
Fall for love
I wouldn't mind

Gone

Translucent light through opaque panes
Whistles they sound on Westbound trains
She can't share the guilt
Only I am to blame
Murky water
Pulled from a spoon
Lovelight dimmed
Like a bloodred moon
The day is done
My task is at hand
This worry will lessen
Like hourglass sand
The blame isn't mine
Only a shell remains
She's broken and bitter
Heart filled with pain
Flooded eyes pouring
Like a springtime rain
Body shaking and trembling
Hurt still remains
Whispers on deaf ears
Not giving relief
Falling aimlessly
Like a wind blown leaf
Love that was given
Would help with the storm
Unfulfilled expectations
Became quite the norm
Hearts made for breaking
Are worn on the sleeve
A blooming rose at one time
Now only thorns and leaves

Sierra Sky

Indigo clouds edged with topaz hues
Stretched thin with an ivory crescent moon
Frogs serenade an evening promenade
Crickets sing while a lone wolf bays
Stars Cascade in galaxies far away
Old trees crack as north winds sway
Trickling streams ripples and fluently flow
Fireflies dance with an effervescent glow
Train whistle bellows the engine roars
Thunder in the distance
The blackbird soars
Lightning illuminates the clear night sky
Tumbleweeds crackle
Cactus cry
The days first light peeks over the horizon
A new day has dawned
Quite surprising

Finale

Emerald green
Peering Queen
Futile moves
Quite obscene
Rook to king check
Heart filled with regret
Thinking of things
 Did not expect
Love never found
Like roots in the ground
Careful caress
Celestial dress
Heart fulfilled
Mind at rest
Hard to find
Not out of reach
Final bid
For dreamless sleep
Words of wisdom
Thoughts of regret
Ocean waves
Red sunset

Lost

Love can be wasted
Bittersweet not tasted
Given or taken
Rejected or forsaken
True in a moment
The minds worst opponent
Blind and crippling
Often rippling
Good and bad
Unwanted and undeserved
Always there
When push comes to shove
Either in abundance
Or lack thereof
