Doctor Love's Prescription for Love

Do you feel the need for love and romance?
Option number one: dinner and a dance.
Chill at home with Netflix and a hot date.
Turn out the lights and make out till late.
Option number two: gifts galore.
Remember the one you'll always adore.
Love at first sight and your heart is pounding;
Once you're with that special one, it's totally astounding.
Valentine's Day is here with flowers, candy, and doves;
Every single person needs somebody to love.
I hope your day is filled with excitement and delight,
And wish you a happy Valentine's Day and night.

Wake Up Call

Do you folks see what's going on here?
We're driven by anger, frustration, and fear.
When it's raining outside, God is crying:
He knows that too many people are dying.
When you see the lightning flash and hear the thunder roll,
It means this madness is out of control.
We're losing our precious family and friends.
My question is: when will this chaos end?
We must not condone any more violence:
It's time for some action, no more silence.
But if you want this plan to be successful,
Stop acting like fools and be more helpful.
No matter the race or even the skin color,
The time is now to fight for one another.
We need love, peace, unity,
Compassion for others, and empathy.
This is going to be our wake-up call:
It's all for one and one for all.
So we'd better get our act together,
Otherwise this will haunt us forever.

A Letter To Mom and Dad

Dear Mom and Dad, it's me, your son;
Out of my brothers, I'm the handsome one.
You've been gone for quite a while;
I'm glad you raised me when I was a child.
There are many things I want us to do,
But it just isn't the same without you.
I'll never forget what you always said:
"A still tongue keeps a wise head."
"Be wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove."
There's nothing like a parent's love.
I'll always remember your smiles and laughs
Whenever I look at your photograph.
There are some things I don't understand,
But I'll leave it in God's unchanging hand.
Mom and Dad, I'll see you again:
You're in my heart from beginning to end.
Thanks for everything that you've taught me:
Love your son, Duane, and the Crichlow family.

Don'T Say Good-Bye

It's hard to forgive, but harder to forget;
I made bad mistakes that I truly regret.
You've been here for me through thick and thin;
I love you and don't want to lose my best friend.
I was wrong for what I've done and take the blame:
Without you in my life, I'll never be the same.
All I want to do is to make it right
Because I can't eat or sleep at night.
I never wanted to treat you like dirt,
And I never wished for you to get hurt.
I care about you from the bottom of my heart;
Losing you will tear me apart.
I'm begging and pleading for you to stay;
My love for you will never go away.
I'm truly sorry for making you cry:
Please forgive me and don't say goodbye.

Only Human

This is a pop quiz.
Please answer these quick questions
Very carefully.

Take a look at me.
What do you see besides the
Color of my skin?

I'm talking to you!
Now tell me in your own words
How you'd define me.

Do you see me as
A hard-working, positive
Individual?

Or do you really
Think that I am just a joke,
Nothing but garbage?

You have no answer.
But let me tell you something:
Hatred WILL NOT WIN!!

Now keep this in mind:
The Bible says to judge not,
Unless you be judged.

We aren't perfect;
We make terrible mistakes,
And we learn from them.

It's time to spread love.
Do not look the other way:
We're only human.

Birthday Limerick

On a cool October breeze in 1973,
A child was born with a blanket worn;
That baby was cute, little me.

Two days before Halloween,
The first things I have seen
Is nurses in white, hospital lights,
And my parents behind the clear screen.

Each year was the same
When the big day came.
I smile ear to ear whenever I hear,
"Happy birthday, Duane!"

I've always loved toys
Like other girls and boys.
But my happiness stopped
When I received new socks;
That took away all my joys.

Now I'm fully grown, sexy, and on my own.
Though things have changed
And are sometimes strange,
I'm grateful for the love my parents have shown.

I can hardly wait to celebrate year 48!
It's coming up soon,
But there's a question that looms
About the birthday gift debate.

I haven't decided yet on what I'd like to get;
But I want to be surprised when I open my eyes.
(Here's a hint: some cash and a pet.)

And for goodness sake,
There's a request I'd love to make:
I'm in the mood for homemade or take-out food;
Just don't forget my cake!

Woman

She has a pretty face, beautiful hair,
Style, grace, and savoir faire.
She's not afraid to speak her mind:
So if you're smart, you'll treat her kind.
When she talks or sings, her voice is angelic;
Her laugh and smile is so energetic.
The way she dances is poetry in motion:
She's calm and cool like the waves in the ocean.
She also has a heart. Don't take it for granted;
She's the best thing God created on this planet.
Daughter, granddaughter, niece, mother,
Auntie or cousin, she's like no other.
She's grandma, great-grandma, sister, and wife:
She's a person you can count on and a friend for life.
She's a lover, a fighter, and so much more:
For she is woman--hear her roar!

Happy Birthday To Me

This is exciting!
It only comes once a year;
I can hardly wait.

What's in store for me?
Will anyone call or text
Or send me money?

Treat me to dinner
Or you can make it yourself:
Either way, I'll take it.

I'm so having fun
With my friends and family;
I won't pass this up.

The best part of all
Is having my birthday cake
And eating it, too.

I'm inviting you
To this joyous occasion:
My birthday party.

So happy birthday
To the greatest person in
The whole wide world: ME!

Boo!

On Saturday night,
I was watching a movie
Till I fell asleep.

All of a sudden,
At around twelve forty-five,
I heard a loud thump.

"Who is that?" I asked.
I waited for a response,
But there was nothing.

So I asked again,
"Who's there? Quit fooling around
And show yourself now!"

There's still no answer.
"This is SO not happening,"
I said to myself.

I grabbed my flashlight
And my lucky baseball bat
To investigate.

The entire house
Was checked from top to bottom:
I even went outside.

Then I said, "Hello?
Is anybody out here?
Anyone at all?"

But again, nothing.
It's only a distraction
To keep me awake.

I went back inside,
Washed my hands, and proceeded
Back to my bedroom.

When I locked my door--
"BOO!" My girlfriend just scared me!
It's Spooky Season.

50

"For 49 years", I said to myself, "I've been such a lucky star.
Although time has passed, who knew I'd make it this far?"
I've made some bad decisions and accomplished many good things;
And I can hardly wait to see what the future brings.
Fifty has arrived now. It's time for a brand new page:
I know it's only a number, but I still look sexy for my age.
Thank You, Almighty God, the Creator of heaven and Earth,
For allowing me to see another year of birth.
Yippee! Yahoo! And also, Yay me! It's celebration time, you know.
Happy birthday to me! For I just turned the Big Five-0.
