Golden Retriever Puppy Poem

Oh this dog I see,

So small and blonde,

Reminiscent of a boy long gone,

So eager to please,

And happy all the time,

Cute and lovable,

And then they start to grow,

Cute puppy becomes big dog,

Little boy becomes big man,

Cute to cute,

Cute to homely,

Dust to dust,

Ashes to ashes,

This puppy dog grew up,

Into a beautiful young dog,

But the boy, hardly grew up at all,

Did he?

Only a shade of cuteness,

Long gone and past by the boy,

He is a man now he is grown,

But in mind is he not still,

That little boy who wished only,

To please, and be loved unconditionally?

Does he not deserve the love,

That the little puppy dog gets,

Even now he’s a big doggy lad?

The Laughing Boy

Who is the child, so happy and bright,
Bowl cut blonde, sparkling blue eyes,
Smile frantic upon red lips,
So fresh with life and pure of soul,
Country and classic rock he loves,
The romance songs the best by him,
He laughs as they sing, Heartbreaker,
What could ever be that bad?

Who is this child?
Small teeth freshly revealed,
So soon out, so soon to leave,
Replaced by bigger teeth,
Just like this laughing child,
Soon replaced by a bigger model,
No less cute, but no more cute,
Smiling through tears,
Who is this child?
Why does he laugh,
How can he laugh,
With so much wrong in the world?
Because...
Plain and simple.
He is a child.

Humanity

My nails are black,
My eyes rimmed in nothing,
the absence of color,
Black,
Like my soul,

I'm rained on by horror,
A constant darkness above me,
Swallowing me deep within,
The nature of life,
Is to spread genes,
Across the world,
Just like darkness,

As the Earth tilts away,
Half of we, the forgotten,
Are cast into shadow,
So deep, so dark,
We vanish into nothingness,

We struggle to stay bright,
We fight a losing battle,
In the end, our light will die,
Our sun will die like us,
And all of what we call,
Humanity,
Will be gone,

Will we?
Will we be away,
On another world in time?
Will the world be blacker?
So cut throat is the world,
As it is.

Humanity is darkness,
To live is to struggle,
You cannot see the future,
You swim in the ocean of darkness,
Never knowing what's ahead,
Struggle to stay afloat,
Only to be drowned by passing ship,

That is our humanity.
And I embrace this dark,
I do not fight the tide,
I let the flow sweep me away,
Into the waves,
I surf the darkness,

And one day I'll wipe out,
But will I make an impact?
Will the judge give me,
I, surfer of darkness,
The trophy that is,
A better place?
Free of that hateful thing....

Humanity?
