Hashim Yussuf Amao Poem
What If?
What if this strenuous struggle won't pay off
Or my toils would not vanish soon enough
What if destiny promises a deceptive future
Or my foresight over the years are mere blurry capture
What if these tussles would last for years
And failures would not stop to induce my fears
What if my aspirations are mere fantasy
Or fortune deters itself from my bumpy journey
What if success refuses to come my way
And doubters continue to mock my pains
What if I fail in the end
And turn a bad precedence from which others learn
What if I starve till I sprout grey
And hide at the sight of successful mates
What if the prosperous moments are not even promised
Or from this emotional woes, I couldn't get healed
What if I would bite finger at end of time
Telling pitiful stories to unforseen kids & wife
What if greatness is not meant for me
And this tears would continue to be daily meal
What if I end up as a shameful failure
And beneath my old age, hardship lurks
What if my heart does not find a solace soon
And I continue to live with dreary days & noons
What if I fail to make family proud
Or friends find deception in my unending vow
What if I wouldn't ride my anticipated Benz
Or have no shiny roof above my head
What if the bright moments refuse to come through
And kismet keeps me united with unending ridicule
What if I give up sooner
Having found no solace to sooth my burning heart
What if? What If?

Hashim Yussuf Amao Poem
If I succeed
If I become rich
I will remember my teachers
If I become special
I will remember my helpers
Because,
If there are no pests
All foods shall be on the floor littered
If there are no teachers
I shall be as foolish as the Galatians
My English teacher has done a great work
My science teacher surprised me
All students, let us thank our teachers
All you educated people,
Let uspraise our teachers.

Hashim Yussuf Amao Poem
The heavenly gift
I received from the Unseen
Covering me - head to toes
Had turn tumult, bringing me foes.
The beautiful colour
In which I was wrapped by God
Lauding His craftsmanship
Had turn twine, fetching me enemies.
Intimidations that never seems to stop
Discriminations and reviling words
Maltreatments born of different race
Are daily battles which I continue to face.
My existence they relegate to naught
If I was made to live, they fueled my doubt
In me they plant racial fears
As their chants keeps provoking my tears.
Racists, never choose to forget;
That black or white shell,
Same yolk we’ve got to produce
In our veins, same blood runs through.
Your white, you never chose
My black, a divine gift
Pleasing and beautiful are both
Why then the racial discriminations and rifts?
In harmony that knows no culture
In unity that mocks no race
In love that ridicules no colour
We can all build humanity and set the pace.
Let's leave the fire of rivalism quenched
For unhealthy it is for our existence
Let's take the heat of racism off its meridian
And appreciate the green grasses from the other sides.

Hashim Yussuf Amao Poem
silent wars. debilitating crises. emotional toils. outweighing bills. fading hopes. unending woes. what hope am i left with. when fortune continues to seem dreary. betrayals that never stopped from friends. failures that lurk beneath attempts. destiny continues to provoke my tears. mockery continues to induce my fears. heavily drenched in pool of depression. of a health challenge that had stifled my aspirations. to whom do i bare these ordeals. unto whose chest do i fall asleep. whose shoulders do i lean on. that would renew my hopes with reassuring words. for these dreams are crippling at failure's behest. while i only continue to brood in silence.
