Breathe

Everything and nothing. It’s all the same.
Just a mixture of emotions. Emotionless.
Bursting. To let out something, but what, I don’t know.
Clouded. Can’t do this. I cannot do that.
Do it all at once. Panic. panic. panic.
Just do it already, just live already.
Breathe.
What are you waiting for?
For this to pass. They tell me, “This too shall pass.”
And, it does. From one fleeting thought to another.
In the shape of a cloud it floats. Disappearing into thin air.
Conceal. The words. The feelings. Hope.
Gone.
Breathe. Panic. Breathe.
Until palms are sweaty.
Until the world tilts and everything spins.
If I’m not on edge, this can’t possibly be right.
What is happening? What am I waiting for?
Breathe. It’s coming.
Breathe and don’t panic.
Don’t’ panic about the idea of panicking.
Don’t stop Breathing.
Because, it floods. Flooded. And, you’ve drowned.
With your head in a bucket.
You’ve filled a river with tears.
Gaze at the ceiling.
It’s over now.
What just happened?
Again and again.
Repeat.
Don’t panic.
Breathe.

Pink

Pink!
Under a blue tint, sitting in eight seats
Me, plus six, minus one is my family
Dust to dust, now tears to tears
Only 50 short, hard and painful years
Symbol of pink outlined in a basket
Tisk for a tasket, twenty-three hundred dollar casket
A gift to the world, God’s newest baby
Hell or heaven, there is no maybe
Now life is gone, happy in a new home
A soul to her body no longer belongs
Light, pale pink lets cross it in a mink
Never tie my strings in a knot, because that’s what took you so to think
But before you go, let us lace you with pearls
And drip you with diamonds and make it aware to the world
That Breast Cancer has no name, nor a face
Just as a lump on your body doesn’t deserve a permanent place

Dedicated to Ms. Kimala Thomas

Watching

I watched

I watched when I was younger, a woman lose her life

To a man, to a rock, to a knot, and never become a wife.

I watched when I was seven the most beautiful woman alive

She was oh so amazing, with big brown eyes

And two dimples at the corner of her smile

Before and now, she has walked a thousand.

I watched a woman began to hate

Herself and her life and begin to question her fate.

I watched a woman meet her prince

Only to be abused, and used at her own expense

And introduced to the “rock” of her life

That later brought on never ending strife.

I watched a little boy tie his shoestrings in a knot

A woman reach up, to cup, and feel a knot

A daughter fight back the knot in her chest

For her mom has lost her right, and now left breast

A son that was buried underneath the sun

Only to think of the “rock” because, this is where it begun.

Courage

It’s okay child, its okay
You know tomorrow will be a brighter day
And I see all day you’ve had to cry
You can’t explain why, so you just told a lie
I see today you don’t feel beautiful
Open your eyes look in the mirror, don’t listen to their ridicule
Don’t put anymore damage on your beautiful body
No matter what they say, no matter what they do, “You are somebody”
Let go all of that low self esteem
I know it’s hard when the world treats you mean
When the world treats you bad, turn your back
Always press forward and never look back
Don’t let your days be filled with the rain
Release and let go, some of that pain
I know deep down in your soul it hurts
To have your family and friends kick you down in the dirt
When all along we are the ones who are innocent
We didn’t ask to be born it was our parents, wasn’t it?
But then we have parents who abuse and mistreat us
Leaving us with no one we can trust
Sometimes we can’t even trust ourselves
When someone loves or there’s happiness we punish ourselves
Buy you know it can and it will get better
We all have each other and together we matter
Have you heard that saying “Let go and let God?”
Well together with him we stand against all the odds
Today we are somebody and we will always be somebody
We can change and we can grow
Having Courage and Faith is all we need to know

Alone

At the time i was in need of a friend
Just a little someone to make my blues end
I wandered around and could find no one
It's sad to say my life has just begun

So alone i stood there straight as a tree
Looking at nothing, just a lonely me
I thought to myself please befriend me someone
And there they came one by one

No words can explain the joy i felt
And that unhappiness i had just seemed to melt
I'm finally getting love form someone
Someone that promised they wouldn't leave my heart undone

So we set for a minute i told them to start
Then i shared my secrets straight form the heart
I loved their kindness, and the things they said to me
But deep down i wondered how could this be?

Things seemed to change they turned on me
The promises they left just fell on me
I realized it was a dream there was never anyone
No love for me, just a heart undone

At the time i was in need of a friend
Just a little someone to make my blues end
I wandered around and could find no one
It's sad to say my life has just begun

Now i stand here all ALONE
A world full of people
But all
ALONE

Another Day

Another day of misery as I lie awake in bed
Many things coming and going, crazy thoughts in my head
Body weighed down with grief, I couldn’t even move
Someone’s knocking at my door, but I’m just not in the mood
I know it’s the devil he wants me to come and play
I turn my back away from the door, and then I begin to pray
Talking to God I wonder if he hears me, will he lend me his ear?
Will he finally do something for me, something I’ve been asking for, for years?
Will he take the key and unlock the chain that holds down my heart?
Will he find the pieces that have been broken and shattered and mend back my life that’s
been torn apart?
Will he love me like I know he loves the angels above?
Lord knows the only thing I want in the world is to simply be loved

They Forgot?

I wonder where that girl could be?
The one that hides behind the tree
Sitting with her back to the world
Thinking of nothing, nothing, but swirls

She wonders where on earth could love be?
The kind that keeps your tears from falling free
Where are the friends others have told her about?
She's wanted no where so her souls full of doubt

Me. I just know where that girl could
And why she hides behind the tree
I know how she feels when there is no love
Not even from the man that hides above
I know her feeling of wanting a friend
Hoping one day her storm will end

I know the lonely girl without a friend
The one that still prays for her pain to end
The one who doesn't know anything about love
No kisses and hugs, no kisses and hugs
I know the girl hiding behind the tree
Hiding from the world
That girl is
                   ME.

Hurtful Love

My heart was heavy, grief weighed me down
The pain i felt left a permanent frown
I use to know love but i know it no more
Rejections, rejections door after door
As my tears hit the floor

No happy place
Never a smile on the face
Sadness tears through the heart
Life has fallen apart

I'll never say i need love is this is the things it do
I'll never ask for anyone if they turn out like you
I'll never wish upon a star
things have gone wrong so far

Don't want to HURT again
From the LOVE that you lend
