All the Toys Are Broken

Teddy bears on the bed,
a little red fire engine on the floor.
Even though the batteries are missing,
a childs heart should see the lights flashing
and hear the sirens roar.

The hand made rocket ships never take off to Mars.
The model airplanes that hang from the ceiling
never have a background full of stars.

The imagination should have been filled with dreams
and allowed to run wild.
Some things never happen
when the heart is stolen from a child.

A childs heart must not be allowed
to grow all on its own.
The evils left behind will show their faces,
even when the child has grown.

The heart of a child should be smothered with hugs,
and many loving words spoken.
If a child's heart never comes to life,
the toys will always seem broken.

Blowing In the Breeze

A child is born and placed into his mother's arms.
She looks into his eyes
and promises to keep him from lifes harms.
If life was fair,
maybe that promise would have come true.
Life must run it's own course;
she did all she could do.
I think of my mother often
and I still cry from time to time.
Mother's Day is like a emotional chime.
I still talk to her at night as I kneel upon my knees.
When the wind is blowing I feel her all around me
as the trees dance with the breeze.
All of these feelings tell me she is helping me recover.
I forgive her- my lovely mother.
So I will talk to her again tonight
as I kneel upon my knees,
I hope she never forgets to touch me
as she's blowing in the breeze.

Walls

A boy sits in the shadows cast by a wall of feelings and fears. A childhood of
misleading has frozen his heart and stolen his tears.

The boy grows into a man and again tries to climb the wall. Many times he's tried
before, every time has resulted in a fall.

Time has passed and now he finally stands strong and tall. Guided by all
lessons learned he now realizes that a strong heart and mind can make his
walls small.

A Look Inside

I stare into the mirror and see a pair of lonely eyes, It's like I can see into my soul.
Sometimes I think I can hear its cries.

I wish I could talk to the little boy who is still hidden within, he has been afraid to
come out ever since his father touched him in sin.

I wish I could tell him he is not to blame for the tears we've shed, I wish I could
tell him he has nothing to fear because the invader is dead.

I'm learning to deal with my feelings and I'm confronting my fears, my eye's now
see clearly because I've washed them with tears.

I hope little teddy understands its time to share the guilt and pain, the time has
come to cross the bridge and release the hurt and shame.

I'm starting to open my heart and have integrity and pride, today the mirror isn't a
sad place to look because I'm finally taking a look inside.
