The Racetrack

The Racetrack

   A momentous and thrilling place
   where people lose their pace
looking through the columns of the racing form.

  They seem to be cheerful
when they hear of their horse name Fearful
  getting into position with Takeoff.

The time has come and the bell has rung
and off with a speeding start
around on the first lap and straight for home
The people are shouting for Fearful to come home!

Reaching Eighty-Five

Reaching eighty-five

 All of a sudden I’m eighty-five
and start remembering of things past
and begin to think to relieve the burden for my children to bear
I begin to think and stare.

An introduction to the roll of hospice
funeral arrangements, crypt for final justice
mausoleum. plot, cremation
which of the above for my final damnation?

Where, when , do I begin to plan
the removal of my things past?
Mountains of books, files and photos galore
where does one put all to store?

Family harmony, wills, insurance
promised treasures
all for my beneficiaries assurance.
